Conceal Name

I assume when you registered your account you used your actual name as your user name. You can nicely ask @Derg to change it to something else if you want though.
 
You mean "Dear Leader," right? Sounded like you said "Real Dictator." They sound similar, but only one gets you fed to a pack of ravenous dogs.
 
Hi @Derg I sent you a message a while back about a username change. I didn't hear anything back. I figured I would just add to this thread.

Haha, I had read this thread a while ago, and I tried going about it the way you guys suggested. I Hadn't heard anything, so I figured this thread was the most appropriate place to post about getting a username change if I were so lucky to be allowed that. Either way I'll survive. Sorry @Derg !
 
Yeah, tagging the crap out of a guy that has over 500 pm's, cause he's busy, you know, trying to put out fires here is going to help a lot. Other mods can do it to.

Well Actually......There are certain wondertwin powers that only Douglas has. We (at least Me) cannot change/edit names. That's one or two levels lower in the stack of code that we can go....
 
REMINDER: Dorg, I will pay good moneys to be a temporary Moderator (to handle clerical matters such as this) and also be a phantasmagical wheel of Random chance on the forums. Perhaps we may even see Name Change cross Random!
 
I use my name and i stand by it. But i agree that sometimes it would be nice to have the opportunity to ask something, might have to do with regulations, certification or medical and all that is searchable by anyone. So you should be able to ask questions in specific forums using an anonymous option.

The funny part about this forum is there is very little anonymity here. Quite a few of us know each other. I've known @jtrain609 since what '05? I've met quite a few people on this forum, so even though you don't know my name, it would take a split second for people to find out who I am.

It may be useful in the future to have a possibility of messaging a Mod and getting something posted anonymously, like some other sites have, but there really is no anonymity here...right @Cherokee_Cruiser. I don't know you, but people on here do, correct?
 
I think the not-using public names is more for a modicum of protection from drive-by feceslords like David Yanofsky. Believe it or not, people who don't post on here -- or maybe even people you don't know -- read Derghouse.

It is something that easily could be done, but I'd want to know why the individual wanted it to be anonymous. I'd hate to get into a " i heard from my babys daddys cousins brother" mess....

Umm, yes? Maybe?

On this forum I can name the handful of people who I've actually met. ATN, Seggy, spicyweasel, and a couple I can't remember-at-the-moment-because-it's-late. But it's very few. The other majority that 'know me' is from 9E-related stuff which I'm trying to stay out of here, and so there opinions are based more on the online persona rather than in-person-someone-you've-flown-with.
