compass locator on ils

if i didnt have adf in my plane, but had an ifr gps(garmin 430) but the ils(rwy 03 kcho) requires adf as the compass locator is an iaf, would i be able to substitute taht gps and use it as adf for the approach. The comp. loc is the iaf for the straight in ils approach and the way i see it i can navigate there without the adf by using gps, which has azalea park ndb clearly labled on teh moving map. could i legally shoot the approach liek this? and what do the fars say? anyone know...im at work and debating this with a friend over email.
 
As long as the GPS is IFR-approved and has a current database in it, you may use it in lieu of an ADF receiver to identify a compass locator on an approach. I don't have that approach in front of me, but it might be the reason the ADF is required is for the MAP? If the hold is over the NDB, an aircraft without ADF or GPS would be unable to fly the hold. The GPS should have the missed approach in its database, including the holding pattern if there's one associated.
 
Here's the approach that triple7 is refering to. I've flown that approach, and the NDB is required for a course reversal (unless you transition from ROMAN). The missed has you hold over Gordonsville.
 
IFR Cert GPS can be used in lieu of, Now ADF needed. Its in the regs or AIM somewhere, just to lazy to look it up .

Dont mean to hijack the thread, but is there a place where you can look up instrument charts on the web?
