Compass hiring

How about you start listening then? It doesn't matter who will or wont hire without experience, you don't even have a license, much less enrolled in a course to get one. Baby steps my friend...

With that said, I am contemplating on applying. Sure its a big move from Anchorage but hey, ya gotta start somewhere.

E175s are from what I understand a very dispatch friendly aircraft. This is a good company and a terrific way to get your feet wet---plus with those cold MSP winters, you would never know you left Alaska.

It's more the way in which you are asking for help, indicating a lack of effort on your part to do the most basic amount of online research or type a complete sentence, that is causing people to become frustrated here, I think. The other individual that @DispatcherSam mentioned has a habit of doing the same thing sometimes. Let's look at the post I replied to:

will this compass hire with no exp?

See, to me, this post indicates that you have no idea what Compass really is (A regional airline for Delta, formerly a regional for Northwest) so that also indicates you haven't even done a Google search on them and looked at their Wikipedia page (which would take less than five minutes to read through) or their website, and also that you are too lazy to type a proper sentence out, or spell the word experience. (Seriously, if you do go to dispatcher school I'd advise having a friend look over your resume before mailing it out.)

Many of your posts here far, to me, are the online equivalent of showing up to a job interview in flip-flops, t-shirt, shorts, and with a cap on backwards. I know this is just a message board, but communication (both verbal and written) is a key part of the job, and you do not give the impression of being skilled at it when you type out requests without proper capitalization or grammar. Had your post been written something like, This looks like a very good regional airline! Do you know if they hire dispatchers without any experience? it would not have generated any negative responses. That being said, we did still answer your question. Also, props for your last message (the one I quoted) being typed out with capitalization and correct spelling. :)

Good luck in your future career!

As always, @manniax hit it out of the park. We are all here to help, but you need to help yourself first.

Hey, we have a flight to PAFA every night...so you could always head back to visit home if ya wanted.

Here's a thought. Shut up !! Let the poor kid ask questions. Doesn't anyone have respect for others anymore.

Seriously? We have all been more than helpful to this individual, but he continues to ignore us and ask the same questions. If he really wants to be a dispatcher, he will do the leg work himself and research these companies (such as Compass).

How about a little human decency. My good some people in here act like hyenas and my god we aren't animals. At least some of us aren't. There comes a time and place for everything. This person is completely new here and to the career. How about we all show him so courtesy.

So you have first hand knowledge that this is actually a legitimate new person? Or is that a total shot in the dark? You sure do sound certain...?

I don't know anyone on here or if they say they are who we think they are. Why must we know someone to be decent to them ?

I think if you look back at the beginning of his/her posts and all the pages of "decency" that was originally shown, you'd understand the frustration from many. So much info and advice has been given but it appears none is being followed. Some of these last posts have been harsh but possibly warranted. A little "tough love", if you will. And it's becoming increasingly questionable as to whether this is a real newbie or just someone trolling.

A note to other newbies...this industry is tough. You need a thick skin. It will chew you up and spit you out if you aren't a self starter and highly motivated to learn as much as you can on your own. We are all here to support and help each other but no one is going to hold your hand and spoon feed you everything. It requires a lot of devotion and time studying on your own. The firehose in school people speak of is real but it barely touches the surface. It covers what you need to know to get licensed. The real learning begins after that and the amount of stuff we need to know requires an investment and commitment to study on your own time, as well as on the job. (This is of course if you want to be successful) You will never stop learning as a dispatcher and the amount of knowledge you must have only increases as you get further in your career, as you move on to more complex operations. You'll certainly not gain the respect of your colleagues if you expect spoon feeding and hand holding.

@nyk

We have run into hundreds of new dispatchers on this forum and have treated every one of them with respect and have been very accommodating for the most part.

This guy has asked the same questions over and over and it's obvious he never read the FAQ. All of this annoys me but I can forgive it.

The problem that both I and I'm sure the others are having is that after we give him an answer he rejects our advice and says something else that comes all the way out of left field.

The amount of spoon feeding he is requesting has hit a comical level. He can't even be bothered to read the program requirements for a school he is looking into or read a single dispatcher job description to know that a license is required for every single one of them. Instead he comes here and asks us looking for instant gratification and easy answers. Then when he doesn't like the easy answer he tries to argue with us.

It's the attitude that is the problem, not a new dispatch candidate asking questions. God bless you if you can handle it via PM

I understand your frustration but is being an ass really going to stop someone from a dumb or annoying question? Uh NO! Why is it so hard for people to ignore things yet instead resort to vulgar and rude comments or advice. It's not comical nor funny it's sad and pathetic. There is a bunch of characters in this forum and it's sickening what they say and that's why I had to finally say something.

And why did you quote me in this post? I don't believe I've been anything but gracious and helpful to this member.
