Technically, you can only fly on that day, however there are times where you'll fly a trip over into the next day, and you'll get day off pay to deadhead back the following day.

depends on whether it's short or long call.. short call means you have to be in the base city and within an hour from the airport for a specified amount of days... long call (12 hr call up) can be at home waiting by the phone depending on how far home is... when your off, your off....check out the above page...

[/ QUOTE ]Doug says it could be either way....he says it's different for each airline (which is why he hasn't written a section about it since he only knows delta specific) but they could call you in for one longer trip or just a day trip...
 
I really try to avoid too many specifics when it comes to crew scheduling because every airline is a little different and there really isn't a reliable 'standard'.
