Commuting from Hawaii...ludicrous or feasible?

I see ATI's 757s in HNL whenever I'm there, but I'm not sure where they go. Might be an option as well. I think they're the combis.

They mostly park on the Hickam ramp. I don't think you can jumpseat on dod flights.

ATI/ABX/Possibly somebody else now fly the Aloha Air contract almost daily from LAX-HNL. Additionally, "Pacific Air Cargo" which is actually a Kalitta aircraft goes pretty regularly too.

Feasible

Check out VX, we do a few LAX-OGG/HNL and SFO-OGG/HNL/KOA a day and NEVER have anyone in the jumpseat. It'd be nice to have someone to talk to while the capt is sleeping...

ABX was doing it. Aloha brought it in house a few months ago. The ketchup and mustard 767 is gone.

Hey guys looking to get some advice here. Currently 121 FO for a big regional you've heard of. Looking at options for moving to Hawaii but keeping my current job (till HAL decides to take a chance on me) and commuting to the west coast (LA/SF domicile). Does anybody know someone who does this or the best way to approach this? I'd have some schedule flexibility to be able to work in large blocks then go home to hawaii for a week or so at a time. Just missin that warm ocean and those palm trees....
Are you a masochist?

I get the YOLO thing and wanting to live somewhere nice...but jeeze, this seems like the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
There’s no way I’d want to commute from Hawaii for a regional. If I was at a legacy I’d probably do it.

I know someone that does it, they also owned a boat near SFO and likely spent a lot of time there...

I didn’t commute - I lived in Hawaii, but I’ll say HI was unequivocally the best place I’ve ever lived. There are draw backs, but I miss the warmth and the lifestyle greatly.
