And then there is this.

Are they hiring street captains as well? "as soon as you get your 121 time", what about people that already have it?

Could be a clever way of them saying upgrade is at least a year (which still isn't bad)

The fine print (that the recruiters don't tell you) is that the "2nd year CA pay" starts 1 year after you complete IOE. With the way the training department is, you would have to plan on 5-6 months to complete IOE.

As far as the claim that upgrades will happen as soon as you hit 121 PIC minimums, that is just a carrot they are still dangling since early 2016. It worked for a little while, but there are plenty of people that meet the minimums and still haven't upgraded. I saw the CEO use that same talking point. What he didn't realize was the two FO's he was talking to both had their 1000 SIC when they got hired almost a year ago. It was funny watching him squirm as they called him out on his BS.

The MEC sent out an email today indicating that the company has recognized the issue with this, and is open to amending it to 16 mo from DOH

I would say, at this moment in time, that is not the case. No wait on IOE, they have a ton of block hours pulled for Nov iirc. We shall see what happens once the wave of Dash drivers starts to enter the pipeline

I seriously cannot believe how lucky these new guys are. Jesus. Talk about timing. Not only can you walk into a commuter job making actual no crap livable wages but the time to major/legacy will most likely only be a handful of years, and when you get there the pay is outstanding.

Yeah, I’m jealous.

True
I guess don’t like to put my real name on public forums.
On the side note, commuteair just raised the bar for future regional guys

I hope you’re right on the bolded part.

I saw the email after my post. That is better than the LOA language for sure.

As far as training time, I saw they posted more openings in the training department. That makes me think that a lot of instructors and LCA's are leaving soon. If they don't get people hired and trained quickly we could have yet another bottleneck in the training. We'll see, I hope it goes better than it did this time last year.

When hiring at the legacies really starts kicking into overtime. If you had to guess, how long do you think the average time spent at a regional will be? 3-5 yrs.?

No kidding. I did 2 years of 1st year regional pay at $22/$18 an hour, then four more never getting above $42. High oil prices and age 65 stagnated everything so I left for grad school, got an insanely good job with an oil company...6 months before oil crashed and companies laid off 20% of the workforce.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, being home every night and 5.5 weeks of vacation...but my united pilot next door neighbor got me too look up their contract and it’s, uh, a little more than what I remember.

It is frankly difficult to believe.

I kinda like the transparency. And he didn't say anything disparaging. I'm sure lots of us got that same email.

I got this email and I work here. A far cry from the 22.50 I started at 4 years ago and from any regional 4 years ago, let alone a decade or so. The race to the bottom is now a race to the top for the 5 people left who want a 121 regional job. Great time to get in, but why can they ALL suddenly afford huge pay increases? I get the legacies are profitable due to all those BS fees, but still.

We will have training backlog, there’s no doubt about it. I’m trying to be one of the last Dash captains, but unsure how it will all play out. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a 6 month ordeal like it did for many people. Money isn’t everything, reserve still sucks and other work rules need some fixing, though it seems the company just wants to throw money at people right now.

All candidates, new hires, and FO’s entering 121 world over the past 1-2yrs have heard, read, or seen from recruitment materials are: “New Bonuses!” & “Industry Leading/Highest Regional Pay,” then in the forums how much reserve rules suck and the later (see thread Headline). Not much detailed discussion in the forums on soft pay. No access to contracts to read and make the best decisions until you sign up and show up for Indoctrination/assimilation class.

I left 135 and went to Envoy last year after the bonuses and pay bump made it worth my while. I wanted to go to C5, they were just really late to increasing & throwing up bonus/base pay. Really glad to see you guys raising the bar now along with Endeavor.

I wish soft pay & contracts were posted and discussed more from various regionals for candidates to review.
