CommutAir QOL

The must work days are definitely a pain in the butt for everyone here. I was bidding number 2 in IAD and sometimes had to do a standup at the end of a 4 day trip.

This thread has been one of the best write ups on a regional I've ever read on any forum. Thanks for the info guys.

I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight on a particular concern of mine. When these new rest rules hit, is CommutAir going to have serious staffing problems? I know they already need pilots pretty badly and it's a really small pilot group so it just seems like there might be an issue. Valid concern or not really?

Eh kind of, not really though. Rumor is that the new rest rules have already been somewhat implemented into our trips. Supposedly they've been rolling them out in waves for the past two months or so.

Just a rumor though.

This post brought to you by beta from my iPhone.

I'm more concerned about First Officers considering two years to be a "long" upgrade and bouncing to other regionals than I am the new rest rules.

Seriously, guys and gals, two years is still quick!!! Stick it out, and fly the most fun airplane ever!!! :)

Two years and maybe shorter if you're one of the ones to stick around.

I'm in training now and everyone I've met thus far has been top notch.

How tough is training?
I've got no complaints. Our instructor for the first week was pretty thorough and gave us plenty of time for questions, examples, etc. You're given your own copy of the Ops Manual on day one and told to highlight to your heart's content. I've maybe done an hour of so of study and reading each night.

Indoc text is tomorrow so we'll see how tough it is.

Good luck! Enjoy 3585, takeoff alternates and rest requirements ! I miss that stuff!

Remember to have fun, study hard with note cards and quiz one another---its the best part of experience!

Good Luck the rest of the way and dont forget to spend a little time each day with your sim partner working on the call outs and on the CPT, I cant stress how much having those call outs down before you get to the sim will help you down the line!

Great job! Drop me a pm and tell me about the interview if you would! Congrats!

Pretty straight forward, but I'll let dvt give you the details since he's interviewed more recently than me.

dvt, did you leave with your limitations information? PM me and I'll give you some info from indoc.

Well done! I hope to see you around IAD if you shall choose to come here. You will enjoy ground school. As important studying is, don't forget to relax and have a cold one!
