Commercial Written Test Questions

Hello everyone,

I searched for people who studied and passed the CAX written test within the last few months and didn't see anything fresh- so I figured I'd make my own post.

I just finished the Gleim test prep book, but don't feel confident in taking the commercial written until using another test prep. I was looking at using Sheppard Air. Does anyone have experience with them for the CAX?

Also, if anyone has taken the test within the last few months, did you feel the questions were vastly different than those on the test prep materials? I know the FAA has introduced new questions on a quarterly basis and I'm wondering how on par the test prep is (Gleim or Sheppard Air).

The FAA ,from my understanding, is continuously introducing new questions to their databank, so Gleim and ASA will not have the most updated questions. You can't go wrong with Sheppard Air. I was a bit skeptical of them at first, but after having used their test prep, I can't praise them enough. The $40 for the test prep will be money well spent. Also, remember that Sheppard Air, as with any other test prep, is just a tool to pass the written exam. Good luck with the studying!
 
Agreed. I'm not throwing all my eggs in one basket. PHAK, FAR/AIM, and Gleim's Commercial book are on my study list as well. But test preps come in handy for oddball questions like determining the interception of a bearing at a specific angle from an ADF. :rolleyes:
 
Never gone wrong with Sheppard. Drug around a Gleim ATP book for YEARS. Finally got serious, did the Sheppard, and passed with a 90-something in like a week. They're good people, and good at what they do.
 
Honestly, you can probably pass the Com written without picking up a book. These tests are not in the least bit hard.

I have seen sheppards cax prep and it's no different than their other preps. Know the questions that are provided in the prep and you will have no issues scoring well! Excellent folks at Sheppard!
 
I took it a year ago. Pretty easy test. I used king schools for mine (this was before sheppard had CAX prep), but I highly reccomend sheppard air.
 
I took the exam a week ago using lasergrade testing. Got a score in the eighties. Spent time just reading through the ASA test prep book and going to a test prep place that my school offers. Was much easier than the instrument written that's for sure.
 
I used the "current" Gleim when I took mine and it seemed like the questions were quite a bit different than the ones I'd seen. Definitely a bit more challenging than what was in the book because I got by with an 82%. Sheppard Air seems like a great deal.
 
I finished Sheppard Air and was pleased. I saw not one question on the test that wasn't on their database. Also, when comparing just Gleim's 2012 book- their questions were pretty spot on too. Highly recommend Sheppard Air!

Congrats! If you remember the question that was on the test and not in their prep they will give you a refund if you call them.
