Commercial Rotorcraft to Sport Pilot additional rating

I haven't trained anyone for a sport pilot cert yet so have no experience. New student has a commercial rotorcraft-helicopter certificate and wants ASEL sport pilot cert.

Looking at 61.63(4) Need not take an additional knowledge test, provided the applicant holds an airplane, rotorcraft, powered-lift, weight-shift-control aircraft, powered parachute, or airship rating at that pilot certificate level.


So is her commercial rotorcraft-helicopter cert considered "at that pilot certificate level" for sport pilot? Wouldn't sport pilot be considered below commercial? But the reg specifically sates "At that level". At is not the same as greater than.

Or am I missing something?

Also, anyone ever train someone transitioning from rotorcraft to sport pilot?

I guess the commercial helo written covers airplane questions, so you would just need to do the sport pilot initial ASEL hours/groundrequirements.

It couldn't be an add-on to the Commercial Cert as you're only demonstrating SP level maneuvers.

I'd be interested in Commercial ASEL going for Sport Pilot Helicopter come to think of it!
