I Passed my Commercial check ride yesterday! I Could not have asked for a better weather day, light winds and clear sky (a rarity in the Chicago area this time of year). Total was about 1.5 oral 1.9 flight.
I'll post what I can remember from the oral, we actually completed that part on 10/27. After doing all of the paperwork in IACRA and showing the examiner that the airplane was airworthy and had all of the needed inspections completed, we briefly discussed what documents a pilot needs, as well as currency requirements. That was followed by a discussion of commercial privileges and limitations. Then she had me show her my cross country planning (KPWK to KCID) and go over the checkpoints, weather along the route, and weight and balance for the trip. We went over all classes of airspace A through G covering entry requirements and VFR weather minimums. Finally we covered systems focusing on the landing gear and constant speed prop.
Flight: We took off on the cross country, I pointed out the first two checkpoints and shortly after leveling off after the 2nd climb (we had to climb in 3 phases to stay under the Bravo shelf) the examiner pointed out a private grass strip off of our wing and pulled power for the simulated engine out procedure. She told me to go around about 500 AGL and continue on the cross country route. I Was unable to see the 3rd checkpoint because of the climb after the emergency, but I pointed out the 4th one, and I was told that my passenger needed to use the bathroom. We diverted to KDKB and did the soft field landing, soft field take off, power off 180 and short field takeoff. Headed north did 8's on Pylons, climbed up and did steep turns, lazy eights, slow flight into a power off stall in a left turn, power on stall followed by chandelles. I was given a choice then to either do steep spiral to descend or normal descent. I chose to descend normally, making sure to remain under the bravo shelf. We went back to KPWK and did the short field landing.
