Comm. Airline Pilots Increasing

There will be unprecedented movement in the industry. The pilot shortage is not a myth, its reality.

Kit Darby...is that you??? Boy, it sure does seem like this "pilot shortage" has been "right around the corner" for a LONG time now. Is it ever going to get here?

not sure were all of you get your facts. But when 50% of continental airlines pilots are gone in 2012 because of retirement, and the number of pilots being trained is down drastically because know one can afford it. Sounds like a nice recipe for a need for pilots. Same thing happened in 2007 when everyone and there brother got hired, they pushed the retirement age back just to delay the obvious.

Grammar Trifecta!

So says the guy that will fly until age 65.

Not a chance. I'm planning to be out by 55, and my retirement funds are ahead of schedule for that. It's helpful when you start receiving a B-Fund pension in your 20s.

But even if someone did stay until 65, they still got screwed. All they got was an addition 5 years in the right seat, but the same amount of time in the left seat. Their left seat was just delayed by 5 years, and now they have to work 5 years longer to get the same amount of time in the left seat. Screwed, plain and simple.

See, part of Part 121 training is a module called "Doom & Gloom and Operational Pessimism". It's required today.
