Comair

I don't hate anyone, seriously.

Some selected pilots have done things that certainly haven't curried my favor, in terms of spearheading the RJDC lawsuit and being unwilling to hire Delta's furloughed pilots without giving up their seniority number ("We don't want the CRM problems"/"Our pilots would burn the house down")

ASA, however, helped our furloughed pilots tremendously so ASA pilots don't pay for their beverages on layovers if I'm around.

I don't hate anyone, but I do have a heavy disdain for the two or three specific people that made some harmful statements/actions over the past few years.

Funny, because our contract company had instituted fuel cost savings measures that will bring in about a 3% fuel savings per year to the mainline partner, yet they still want to give 25% of our airplanes away.

I can't wait to get out of the regionals.

Hey Chicaga,

Ever notice how said mainline partner always taxis on 2 engines, plus the APU? Nice little double standard we have to live up to.

Over here we are constantly told that we have the highest fuel burn, APU usage and break wear in the Airways system. After watching two other carriers refuse to SE taxi (and run the APU below 10K all the time) and another regional burn up the breaks to make taxi way G of of 23 at CLT there is NO WAY that we have the highest numbers. Makes you wonder how much managment just says stuff to get a bonus.

WHOOP WHOOP!
DINGDINGDINGDING!!!

"Circle gets a square!"

"Yes Don Pardo! what does the contestant win?"

Management would say the sky is pink if it would result in bonuses for them.

Sadly, not only would they say it, they would beat you over the head with it until you agreed with them that, yes, the sky is indeed pink. Then they'd take half your pay and say that the sky is actually mauve, and how dare you tell them the sky is pink.

That's been a common thread of discussion amoung wholly owned regional pilots. For the most part we (PDT, PSA, CMR, AE, 9E, XJ and XJet even though they aren't WO anymore) have a vested interest in how our mainline airline does. We do our best to save gas. We try to portray a good image of the company etc etc. Some times I wonder if some of the contract regionals don't make quite as much effort to provide top quality service. As long as the level is satisfactory they will keep the contract. If the major makes money or not is not really a concern for them.
Put down your WO pipe. Having a healthy major is in everyones best interests.

I agree that a healthy momma ship (err... "dad" over here) is in everybody's best interest. However I have heard from multiple skywest guys that even if Delta was to fail, they would manage at Skywest. It wouldn't be pretty, but they are insulated enough. Same things goes for Mesa. I heard a bunch of captains talking the other day how even though they are being phased out of the Airways East system they are picking up flying for Delta and it isn't a big deal. However, as far as the WOs go.... if our parent company goes away so do we.

Did those guys miss the whole Independence Air saga?

Lemme guess, "It can't happen here, we're (insert name of airline here)!"

Riiiiiight. I work for what was known as "The prettiest pup in the ugliest litter". That one still cracks me up.

Those guys could use a little sodium pentathol.

Pan Am failed
Eastern failed
TWA failed
Western failed
Northeast failed
National failed
Midway failed
ACA/Indy failed

shall I continue?

If it can happen to them, it can happen to [insert any airline name here].

NOBODY is insulsted. NOBODY is immune. Sorry. That's a fact.

I forgot to distinguish old National (aquired by Pan Am) from new National (the LAS based operator that shut down a few years ago).
