Comair Rumot

Hopefully all the JFK Comair guys will be smart enough to let themselves get displaced to get the company paid moving expenses and move days. CVG has always been senior and will continue to be senior, so might as well get displaced instead of bidding for DTW/CVG.

This is going to suck for the Florida commuters, but good for all the Comair guys that live in MI/IN/IL/OH.
The drive from CVG to DTW isn't bad if you have to do it. Our mx guys have been doing it on a regular basis.

Yeah, the commute is going to be the biggest pain in the rear.

At least NY had some choices to get into.

But DTW- ouch. Not looking forward to trying that.

The only alternatives would be FNT/TOL/LAN/AZO and then rent a car and drive.

LAN and AZO are both probably 1.5 ish hours from airport to airport in a car.

FNT and TOL are probably an hour each.

Or two leg it through someplace in the middle, say SYR/BUF etc.

Of course, right as I'm about to move to DTW area for a new job, Comair decides to open a DTW base and with my luck I will probably get recalled now, too

Lots of MEM flying coming soon to a displacement bid near you!!:D It's almost more than double what we're doing now. Comair pilots are going to get real familliar with MSP, MEM, and DTW.;)
I can see comair coming to Memphis and doing a bunch of flying. We are maxed out. Compass has/will close their Memphis base. Mesaba is losing their saabs. I wouldn't be at all suprised if Memphis closed as a mesaba base. I could see them taking their 900's up to jfk and their 200's are almost all in Minneapolis. There wont be anything left in memphis for them. Of course all is subject to what Delta wants.

Quite frankly, SLC is much more likely at this point that JFK. But that's just going off the direction of the current shuffle.

If Mesaba opens an SLC base, I'm going to get a job there and commute to reserve from the east coast, just to prove that God has forsaken me.

Nope, dying equipment is the Saab. We'd put you on that, in MEM prolly, until we furlough you. SLC would go senior if it happened. I think it's more likely Delta trades our 41 -900's in at ASA and Pinnacle on 2:1's for the 50 seaters.

While I don't see delta yanking -900's from mesaba for pinnacle the fact remains that pinnacle is at a 1:1 exchange rate right now for 900:200 swaps. 2:1 was down to 124 a/c under the -200 agreement and we are already at that level after NWA transferred some of our -200's to mesaba after mgmt couldn't get a contract done a couple years ago.

Im starting to wonder if our management is connected to some underground mafia that runs everything or something. They always get what they want. When our first TA failed it failed because of the DTW base. Now that we are going to meet with the NMB again and a cooling off period although unlikely is on the horizon, comair is moving into DTW with about just as many crews as we have in DTW. So no we will have the threat that because comair is doing all of the same routes we are, a strike would actually benefit Delta. If we have to shift crews out to JFK/LGA, the cost would be tremendous. You have to factor in how this company runs things when i say that. If we move out there we are the next freedom, we will be done by the end of the year because our performance will go down faster than enron's collapse.

I wonder how Memphis got this name. Sure its not as big as MSP and DTW but its not bad at all here.

After growing up here, moving away and coming back.....I can see how it got the name. There's NOTHING here. Beale Street, Graceland and the Memphis Zoo. That's about it.

Does anyone actually think CVG is going to remain an option for CMR and DAL?

Delta Air Lines is cutting more routes at Cincinnati, once a large hub for the carrier.

A scheduling update loaded by the carrier on May 22 and subsequently confirmed by Delta, shows Cincinnati service ending Sept. 7 to Albany and Buffalo, N.Y.; Charleston, W.Va.; Des Moines, Iowa, and Little Rock, Ark. Delta operates daily service on the routes.

Airlineroute.net, which reports airline scheduling changes, says Delta is replacing its Charleston and Little Rock services with a corresponding increase in daily service from Detroit. Delta says all the Cincinnati markets being cut will be served by its other hubs.

Delta has downgraded Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to small-hub status following its merger with Northwest Airlines. Delta now offers fewer than 200 flights a day there, down from a peak of more than 600.

Delta said earlier this year that its focus in Cincinnati will be to expand and maintain service to the top markets, and especially the top business markets, with plans to maintain 160 to 170 daily flights at the city this year (DAILY, Feb. 23). That's the level of service Delta is operating there now and even with the fall route cuts, Delta says May 24 that it remains committed to operating 160 to 175 daily flights in Cincinnati.

"The numbers may vary slightly after the summer peak, but considering the seasonal markets we serve, we'll remain in that range for the fall schedule," a Delta spokeswoman says. She says the route cuts "are related to the ongoing development of the fall schedule, which has not yet been finalized."

Yes what you said, and I think its because NObody wants to live there because crime is so bad...#2 highest crime rated city in America

Please tell me Detroit is #1, PLEASE tell me Detroit is #1!!!

"Sandwiched between Stockton and Chicago is Memphis, Tenn. The home of FedEx (nyse: FDX - news - people ) has an incredibly high rate of violent crimes, with only Detroit faring worse. The 1,218 violent crimes per 100,000 residents is more than twice the rate in the New York City metro area. The city's sales tax and rate of government employees committing crimes also fall within the 10 highest in the U.S. Pro sports has been a mess in Memphis in recent years as well. The city's lone major franchise, the Memphis Grizzlies, has lost 74% of its games during the past three years, the worst in the NBA."

Makes me wonder where ATL falls in the mix. MSP's not that bad, I would guess. So, yeah. 1 out of 4 of our bases aren't in the top 5 highest crime rate cities....

As long as the high violent crime doesn't penetrate the airport property it doesn't matter I suppose. Besides, Memphis could get a lot better if properly led. Hopefully AC isn't a tool.

Anyway, whois up for a redbirds game?

True dat. Also helps if the mayor doesn't run the city as their own personal piggy bank....
