Comair Rumot

They are.

Like Seggy said, the DCI ALPA MECs (minus Mesa's oddly enough) have been working together for a while now. What the outcome will be, who knows. From what I've heard, there's some promising things that may come out of the talks.

Now, the question is....who's picking up the lift in JFK? If it's mostly 70 seat or greater lift, that's gonna nix 9E. I could see Compass or XJ running E175s and -900s out of there. 9E could be doing some 50 seat stuff as well. They'd have to draw down a LOT of flying in DTW for us to close that base, though. As it is, we're constantly TDYing guys up there to cover what they have. Pinnacle has been completely silent on the whole thing. Which has me oddly worried.....

Is that a bad or a good thing for 9E guys?

I don't think its a bad thing. It's just the normal shuffle. I am sure ASA felt the same way when we opened the 900 base in ATLANTA and now we have several 200 routes out of ATLANTA. No wonder they wanted dual qual.

Woo hoo! Another MEM based 9E poster! :)

Everyone today is saying that an announcement will be made tomorrow (5/24) or sometime in the week.

Word is opening of DTW base, closing of JFK base (for CMR), and that Pinnacle is going to be doing the JFK flying out of T4 @ JFK

thanks! Long time lurker first time poster. I am one of your reserve buddies in mem. At least i think i know who you are by your avatar. Do you also own a spider? :)

Two, in fact. Alright, you know who I am, give me some more hints other than "reserve." :)

Could be true. We haven't heard anything hard core over here, but I've been out of the loop for the last week. Go back to work tomorrow, so we'll see. As it stands, I don't see us shrinking the DTW base, and we don't have the manpower to open another base in JFK. They've been keeping DTW going with TDYs, which in retrospect may have actually been (gasp) smart.

Well.....no word today.

But of course everyone is saying "sometime this week"

lol

Personally-i'm not surprised.

It's official! Memo just came out. Comair closing JFK base and opning DTW in September.

Other info contained in the memo:
Most of the 50 seat flying will be CVG, DTW, MEM and ATL. DL wants planes with first class seats up in the northeast.

Just announced moments ago! So it's official.

JFK closing. DTW 50 base opening. 70/90 still at CVG for now.

Lots of MEM flying coming soon to a displacement bid near you!!:D It's almost more than double what we're doing now. Comair pilots are going to get real familliar with MSP, MEM, and DTW.;)

Snowtown, Notown and Motown! ;)

Does anyone actually think CVG is going to remain an option for CMR and DAL?

Only the guys that live in CVG.

I mean how can Delta keep CVG when there's DTW, MEM, ATL and JFK/EWR/LGA all close by? CVG isn't exactly a destination city.

It's going to be the same thing with CLE in the new Untinental; why keep CLE when you have JFK/EWR, ORD and IAD close by?

I flew CVG-CDG a couple of months ago. One guy was already looking at the dynamics of driving to DTW and the other was completely delusional about what was obviously around the bend for the base.

It got to the point where the 767ER category only had a single pairing that didn't involve a deadhead to a different base. But some were still "for sure" that it wasn't eventually going to be a dead category.

We at Mesaba have seen a slight uptick in flying out of JFK. I think we have CVG-JFK, JFK-BOS, JFK-BUF and I think even JFK-DCA. The shuffle at its finest!

Hopefully all the JFK Comair guys will be smart enough to let themselves get displaced to get the company paid moving expenses and move days. CVG has always been senior and will continue to be senior, so might as well get displaced instead of bidding for DTW/CVG.

This is going to suck for the Florida commuters, but good for all the Comair guys that live in MI/IN/IL/OH.

Yeah, the commute is going to be the biggest pain in the rear.

At least NY had some choices to get into.

But DTW- ouch. Not looking forward to trying that.
