Comair loses 12 jets

yup

ERLANGER – In a cost cutting move, bankrupt Delta Air Lines late today said it would reassign 12 Comair jets to another regional carrier by February. It was the first of several awards expected by year’s end from a bidding process conducted this fall.

The announcement means the potential elimination of jobs for an estimated 264 pilots and flight attendants – a figure Comair officials would not confirm. The locally-based regional airline said it would attempt to manage the job cuts through attrition rather than layoffs

Northwest reduced Pinnacle's fleet by 15 aircraft and they didn't furlough. It all depends on staffing levels and the attrition rate.

I say all assigned classes get delayed a month. There will be a lot of CR7 guys that get displaced to the CRJ. Most new guys will spend some time in JFK.

Actually, from what I heard, the pilot group breathed a sigh of relief when those airplanes went away. Slowed down the JMs and extensions. I haven't heard JMs or extensions running rampant over at Comair, but for attrition to take care of over 250 jobs, people are gonna have to be jumping ship left and right. Comair isn't PCL. People didn't go there to get turbine time and go to another regional....

From what Ive heard, the CR7 is fully stafed. The CRJ is where the problems are. If there are any weather issues at the end of the month especially on a week day you can count on cancelled flights because all of the reserves have timed out. We get printouts of the daily "crew availability" at the station. It was "poor" on the CRJ on Sunday the 19th. That is not a good omen condidering the holidays and the 30th is a thursday.

The company deserves what they get. Have no sympothy. Goto work, fly, come home. If you time out...too bad, if the whole reserve staff times out during Christmas. . . too bad. The company loses customers. . .their problem - it's what they get for not hiring enough crews.

Totally agree with you there. My co-workers fall for the company "the pilots are a bunch of greedy bastiges that need to be put in their place by an 1113". The "discussions" we get into are quite funny sometimes.

Comair sent another packet in the mail today with info about training etc so i guess its still on unless they call or something

another thing, people complain about greedy pilots but they dont realize that most pilots have degrees and hundred thousand dollars in training. educated people deserve more than $20000 a year
