Good news! Comair is hiring again. Interviewing for 18 new first officer openings. Next class in April. Also, all furloughed pilots now being recalled.

Now, if only we could get the same news from more than SWA and CO and regionals...maybe Delta, AA, NWA, United, etc...you get the pic, then I'd be celebrating.

Alot of guys are leaving Comair. My buddy who always gives me the controversial buddy passes just left to become the FO on a G IV in GRR. Alot of guys too are going after their second careers......None the less, excellent news. I pray that in a few years I can work for them. Does this mean they are not getting liquidated anytime soon?

I'll bet I know whose plane(s). Hint: it is Doug's favorite alternative income company. Tail numbers all end in "Alpha Charlie".

:D

I believe he said the company is "Albacore" or something. I was wondering, what do they do?
It's "Alticor". The parent company of Amway Corporation. :)

"Albacore" sounds cooler, though. I'll have to remember that one.

I was talking to a friend who's dad is a pretty senior US Air CA, who said 85% of their pilot group will retire in the next 5 years. UAL has introduced (limited) recalls. I think the tide is starting to turn with the retirements coming up. Unfortunately, going from a regional CA to a major isn't the big jump anymore. I bet however that less and less senior regional CA's will make the jump though.

Remember, ExpressJet is also hiring but chomping at the bits to get rid of 25% of their fleet.

There's always the distinct possibility of being a 'stop gap' for crew scheduling.

You mean an airline would hire people knowing that in a few months it's going to turn around and furlough them? That's mean!:sarcasm:

Sure!

Hell, there's a couple of companies out there that recalled furloughed pilots and then turned around and refurloughed them a few months later.

Personally, I wouldn't apply there with any hope of being there long term.

A reliable sourse says that a lot of captains are being hired to jet blue. Comair eally didn't cut much, but, they were required to do so by force. Though i'm sure it didn't pain management to do so, especially from the pilot group.

Is your friend's dad's initials KD??? :D

We used to have two CMR pilots that commuted out of BGR, one went to NetJets the other JetBlue. Now there are none. But there is still a lot at the other airlines, especially CO (even with one flight a day to EWR)

The interviews are on hold right now. I had one lined up for the 21st but got a call last night that it ain't gonna happen next week. It sounded like I will get a call back pretty soon, but in the meantime I gotta keep looking elsewhere...
