Comair "big" announcement

"...It's always better to fire people on a Friday. Studies have statistically shown that there's less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week. "

That only works for jobs that have a weekend. Airline pilot has no weekends or holidays.

Not what I heard, I heard huge utilization of our current fleet and more recalls to come this January, solid source as well. Strange world...

A huge utilization of our fleet? It's mostly 50 seaters and our fleet guarantee expires in January. Delta doesn't want all of our 50 seaters anymore. We're not recalling either.

That was little money to operate through the summer season. Bottom line Comair will be gone by the end of this year. There will be no more recalls, growth or anything good for Comair. :rawk:

Everything I hear points to nothing good for Comair. It's not realistic to think that Comair is going to grow again and become the Regional we used to be. It will never happen. I don't know why they would spend such money, but they spent tons on JFK and then fuloughed pilots and f/as awhile after. If your sources are credible, thank you for this info. I've been thinking of Plan B for a long time now. This gives me more incentive in pursuing Plan B.

It makes sense an announcement in mid-September because the prez is holding employee meetings around the 13th, 14th, 15th.

Or it could just be the same old "im gonna waste your time" type of employee meetings that everyone gets hyped up about- then they come around and not really anything useful/helpful is said. Maybe they will talk about some new employee health drive! Or something similar that no one really cares to hear about.

Then the process repeats.

The news I received today is not pretty, and Ive started applying for other jobs already. Sounds like mid-September for an announcement on Comair losing aircraft and furloughs again.

Damn. You just can't get a break, can you? I really hope it's not true, for the sake of everyone involved.

I think you really deserve a break, after all of the job postings and jobs that you've helped others get!

This is what Ive been told today and I quote: "I think it is criminal that Comair is recalling you guys with all the stuff about to happen."

Our MEC has an unschduled meeting next month which is taking place second week of September. If you see MEC folks getting pulled off line, things are happening.

Word is the CRJ7/9s will def. be going away = Furloughs again.

This is the info I got today from someone apparently in the know who has been with this company for a long time and held several management positions in the past.. For some reason I do believe him, as he already put up his house for sale in CVG.

I do believe things are happening, but WHEN and HOW it will affect me I do not know. I'm just trying to prepare just in case. Like Ive mentioned in a previous thread. Hope for the best and plan for the worst. I've got my tickets for NetworkJC and the Career Fair, but it'll be mostly business for me this time around.

Yes, that's been done more times than we can count. What sticks out most in my mind is the "...get our costs down so we can be competitive to fly for other carriers..." or something along those lies, I mean lines...

Delta wants to keep Comair around with only 50 seaters? or do those planes just get parked?

Wow, sounds like Comair and Horizon's management members all attended the same conference "Lies to tell your employees while you make your golden parachute bigger"

Interestingly, Skywest management would say that allowing one list would create labor strife. Pilots at XJT would say that without one list there will be labor strife, and guys at Acey? I think they're just ducking for cover :)

I'm happy with the update we received from our MEC Chair this evening.

JA and BH will drop this deal in a quick minute if both labor groups do not reach an agreement on the transaction - but its clear that we are along for the ride - in regards to waiting to XJT to call check-mate. Both MECs are speaking with mutual legal to determine next action (if required).

What's the wisdom as far as the outlook for XJT during a UAL/COA consolidation over the next 18-24 months (pending it's own approval)? Leadership talking about that at all?

Quite the Comair thread hi-jack we have accomplished.

It's only speculation based on pilots and fa/s are getting new wings with no Delta Connection logo on them and some pilots have the new hat pins with no DC logo. Guess there's also uniform changes in the works..also that our fleet guarantee expires in early 2011 and that Delta is ready to get rid of some or all of our 50 seat a/c. It's my belief even if we are kept on with Delta, we will be even more down-sized, unless we get more 70/90s but I doubt that'll happen.

If you're just speculating based on nothing, do everyone a favor and don't post it. Here at ASA we had "Delta Connection" on our wings even after Delta sold us. That's hardly a sign of anything.

I don't buy the hype, personally. This is little more than posturing for a better position on SKW's part. And if it isn't? Screw em; I can get a job at Pinchanickle when they start hiring again and be based 20 minutes down the road from base.

Bring it.
