Colonoscopy

I just had a colonoscopy done because I had some discomfort in my lower stomach for the past 4 months.
Doctor found a polyp that is benign and says I have a spastic colon (IBS)
What will I need to say on my next medical and will this be a problem with getting renewed?

Just report the colonoscopy as routine screening. I assume you are not taking any medications for the colon. If you are, then they may be DQ depending on what they are.

I have had GI issues on and off since a child. I was even told once I had a suspect spastic colon. The docs could never figure it out until a year or so ago a doc said try laying off milk products. Ever since then I have been tremendously better.

You may also want to try it to if the doc agrees

Thank you Doctor. No, I am not taking any medications for anything. I have been researching alot on spastic colon since the doctor told me I have it, but alot of the systems that come with it I have not had. I have read that if you have a parasitic infection it might be confused to a spasitic colon. Is there a test for that?

Yes there are tests for parasites. The other thing is htat when looking in the colon during colonoscopy, unless they give you some thing to paralyze the colon, it may appear to have "spasms" but that is just the response to the air they have put in the colon to get a good look.

Not to gross you out but usually they do stool tests where you collect some stool (some frozen some not) in plastic containers and they test for those things. Also they look for blood, you could consult a GI specialist or try doing a little bit of fiber (seems like they all reccomend fiber and water) and like someone else said try a lactose free diet for a few weeks.
