College Transcript affecting Airline Interview/Career?

Any thoughts on W's affecting an airline interview? The reason I am asking is I already have one from an accounting class (found out that it wasn't required anymore), and I am considering dropping a History class I am currently in that is taking away time from studying for a CFI checkride and Multi-Engine lessons. I already have all the history classes I need, this one was just needed for hours. The history class and an astronomy class are the only two non-aviation classes I'm taking. The rest are 5 aviation classes including multi-engine lessons. Any thoughts or advice?

I did a regional internship and got hired with worse than a "W", they barely even glanced at my transcripts. My experience is that those warnings were a little overblown.

If I was going to give college advice now, I would say keep your GPA above a 3.0 and participate in extracurricular activities.

While I'm not on any airline hiring boards, I can tell you that absolutely nobody is going to care that you have a W. Ever.

"OMG JIMMY DECIDED TO DROP A CLASS THE FIRST COUPLE WEEKS OF SCHOOL SO THEREFORE HE MUST BE UNDEDICATED AND THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN TRUST HIM IN AN AIRLINE COCKPIT!!!!!""

Yeah...no. Don't worry about it. :)

At all 3 of my bigger aviation interviews, one 135, two 121 - a transcript was never requested.

No need to worry, they might ask you about the reason perhaps.

On my transcript I didn't complete a flight lab in time and received a failing grade-only because you have to re-sign up again for the next semester. The college won't let you continue from the previous semester. Afterwards the failing grade gets changed to an "A".

They just might ask you questions.

lol. seriously. no one cares about your college classes unless you seriously have no other redeeming qualities to talk about.... which, you should have by the time youre done with college.

get involved into stuff youre interested in, be an interesting human. dont be a transcript.

Lol, I'm on the 10 year plan to finish college, which means that there's probably a good likelihood that I'll never finish my degree. Don't worry about it. Flying is a technical education, which means that you'll never really use that Complex Variables and Diffy Ques class you took while you're in the airplane. Concentrate on having fun, and having a personality. Would you want to hang out with you? In your aviation world, concentrate on doing things right the first time, and grow your SA, and attention to detail.

Remember, it doesn't take that much to have a good time and get good grades.

A good GPA 3.0+ and extracurricular activities are more important than a couple W's. I wouldn't make a habiit of it though as you don't want to show any sort of trend.

If you need the hours anyways just stay in the history class, IMO..
