College Majors: How important are they to the airlines?

Does it really matter what your college major is? Would you be more competitive candidate for the airlines with an Aviation realted major as opposed to a BA Criminal Justice? I'm currently much closer to a criminal justice degree because of my military training. Is it worth the extra time to go for an aviation related degree?

this is from the baseops in me...

"use the damn search function!!!"

but that was nicer than if we were over there!

Yeah it doesent matter at all.

It is just a box that gets checked.

It may even help in some situations to not have a flying degree. For example I saw an ad in AOPA for a Production test/delivery pilot for Cessna for their singles and the mustang.

Requirements:
ATP
CFII
Batchelor degree in a technical discipline
Recmended:
MEI
Turbine time

A degree in flying wont get you that job, but an engineering one will.

I'm a political science/history major. JUST GET THE DEGREE, don't worry what it is in.
