Wrong, it's not a safety issue, nor do I believe anyone ever stated it was.

I'm unsure why you would attempt to antagonize someone who is sharing what he learned about the process. Remember, I didn't create it, but I'm providing a unique opportunity to get your questions answered, hence, give you a peek "over the castle wall". If you're getting better advice somewhere else, please share it.

Remember, you're speaking to a solid 2.3 GPA college grad who took 5 years to graduate in a boneheadedly simple degree program that is here to help you…

For free.

And I've offered to interface directly with the recruitment team in order to get your questions answered…

For free.

Can I ask a serious question about GPA? I went to UCSC and they didn't give out grades. They gave out written evaluations. You may not have heard of this practice before. But it is real. The written evals didn't reflect GPA very well. Also my college transcripts are a mess. I went to a 4 year college in Colorado because they had an awesome mountain bike team. I realized after 2 semesters that wasn't a good reason to go to college so I went to community college then I transferred into UCSC, immediately applied to the international study program. Studied at UCSC for 1 year and did my last year of university in New Zealand. How would I put all that information on a Delta application?

I work for SouthernJets International. I do not work for Delta.

But IF I was a Delta employee I'd have to ask if they were accredited.

Is a University of California school accredited? Yep.

Edit: I started a new thread @BEEF SUPREME -

Odd, so a UC campus doesn't issue grades or compute GPA? Man, I would be pretty upset because it's a universally accepted and understandable metric in the US.

Personally, I have no idea. But it might be a good question for the alumni association to see what in the world they've been doing with the question.

Here is the link I already provided in case you missed it: http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/parents-and-guardians/prospective-students/grading.html

University of California at Santa Cruz didn't provide grades until 2001. Now they use the A-F metric for the reasons you described above. I actually had basically a 3.7GPA average all through college. It is just hard to prove. Or I would at least have some explaining to do at the very least.

Do you submit your college transcripts to Southern Jets International during the application process? Is there a way to not my situation on the application? Errr.

Can you answer that question? Sorry. All the sekret stuff is confusing me.

No, you do not submit transcripts with the application.

Unless someone who knows better tells you differently, I would be as clear and concise in the GPA box on my application as possible. Something like 'GPA: Not Applicable; Metric not used until 2001.' or something to that effect. I wouldn't make up a GPA that I felt was equivalent unless you had some sort of documentation from the school saying so... again, all my opinion.

It's nothing secret, just answer the questions on the application and maybe have supporting documentation from your University about their grading system.

I really have no idea what's on the application to tell the truth. But I know you don't submit your transcripts.

If you cant fit anything in the gpa box write a note anywhere in the education section explaining. Even in the educational achievements part if need be. Just have it on there somewhere is the best thing to do IMO.

It's really a great approach.

Good way for the computer to put it on the bottom of the list.

I would figure out a way to get a GPA. You can't be alone in this hunt.

The real world has scores, hipster. Your trophies only mean mom got you to soccer on time. NOT VANQUISHING YOUR ENEMY VICTORIOUSLY AND DANCING IN THE PUDDLES OF THEIR BLOOD, GUTS AND NERVOUS VOMIT! :)

Seriously, let me turn on the bat light for this one: @Aero Crew Solutions, what say ye?
I officiated kids' soccer, never played it, and ejected my fair share of parents and coaches.

Did you have to explain how awesome your school was?

This is a much better system from what I read on the link he provided. Way better than assigning a number to someone, and I say that as someone who has a fairly decent GPA.

More schools should do this.

Yes in theory it is really great. You get a well thought out page of why your professor thinks you did well. It is rare to get an evaluation from any workplace that rivals the great evaluations I was getting from PhDs.

However in practice it was a terrible idea. Only because no one wants to read the evaluations. They just want to put you in a category based on a number and move on.

It is why the school stopped the practice in 2001.
