Colgan to enter BK?

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. has approved hefty raises for its CEO and his right-hand man in the midst of a struggle to stave off bankruptcy.

Pinnacle’s board raised CEO Sean Menke’s base salary $250,000 a year, to $675,000, and it gave chief operating officer and executive vice president John Spanjers a $125,000 bump, to $400,000.
.

1. Are they really doing that much work to justtify the pay?
2. What happens to this pay if Pinnacle goes bankrupt anyway? What do these guys really have to lose?

1. Doubtful
2. Im guessing the judge wont look to kindly on this if he files right after...

This place is a dump!! I hope it burns to the ground. I'm out! Resignation letter sent see ya!!
I wish I could say the same... perhaps hitting the proverbial 1000PIC isn't as important these days as it once was... what do you guys think? Best case scenario I would need 6 months to get to 1K... or I could bail for a major and possibly be online in 3 months... what would y'all do? I simply can't believe they did this and yet I am still owed a large amount of money from the beginning of the year since every paycheck has been incorrect. I can't find any way to explain this anymore... no reason for the executives to get raises while I can't get paid what I am due on time...

What's you're total time?

I cannot wait to walk into the crew room tomorrow and see people's reaction. Ajd, I'm going to miss seeing you around. Let me know how things go and keep in touch! Best of luck and tell the gang I say hello.

Wow, this is unreal. I can't wait 'til the Execs reengage the MEC and ask for "permanent" concessions again.

Aside from making me sick to my stomach that I will be asked to give 5% of my 30K, could this be a positive sign? Though trying to make sense of the things I see in the industry is impossible for me, wouldn't giving ones self a huge raise right before filing upset the court? Have similiar moves been done before with other companies before they file?

I don't care if you have an "increased workload" because some CFO quit, how can you justify doing this in front of thousands of employees that you are asking to help you save the company by taking a pay cut! Its coporate greed and this is what our country has become. The rich get richer and the middle class slowly disappears.

My wife and I gross about what he got in his raise. I've got to be honest, we live a comfortable life on that. She has had opportunity to move up, but hasn't because she doesn't want the work load.

Getting a raise equivalent to what my family brings in yearly? Gross. There is no way the extra amount of workload is equal to the pay increase. The new raise is more than the CFO was making to start. Totally out of line for the companies current position in the market. Yes he was handed a hot mess, but, a pay raise shouldn't happen until the correction has been successful, and the company profitable.

If this stands who knows? Minute late at every gate?

Oh re-he-heally? What's with the new hire classes being cancelled talk? New hire classes are only postponed temporarily? Dumb question, but you are sure they were indeed pilot interviewees? Thanks.

Sorry to spread false rumors. They guys interviewing were dispatchers. I thought they were pilots. I'm up in Eagan for systems training and there is a Colgan saab class. I talked with the instructor and he said it is a captain upgrade class. They were scheduled to have new hires in it but they canceled it.

.........?
Sorry, I just think it's ridiculous that management can ask us to make sacrifices then take huge pay raises. I was so excited to graduate from college and get hired onto the Saab. I moved my family cross country to have my base close three months later. I was able to get the other NYC base but now it looks like if they get rid of the Q's i'm screwed. I don't know if i could go to another regional and do my third full indoc in less than a year. If someone would of told me this is what working for an airline would really be like i would of gone to law school instead.

Welcome to the airlines i guess

Here comes Jtrain to tell you how wrong it is and how dumb you are because all jobs are crap and you should be happy to be an airline pilot. Love you train. What Jtrain won't tell you is that if you get a good job you can stick it out away from the industry, pay some bills, save some money, and enter when they are hurting for pilots. I did that and I'm debt free, home owner (house debt I suppose), and I upgraded in a year, however I was still downgraded some time later. Worked out fine because my pay as an FO is about what I made as a first year captain. Although I did a lot right and my company got bought by Pinnacle (really both companies I worked for) and they are doing their best to run what this company has become into the ground. Hard.

When you get in at the wrong time you get in at the wrong time. This job (it's not a career) can really suck depending on the roll of the dice. If you stick with it you will eventually get ahead but you'll probably be in debt and your family may pay the price. Luckily, if the law of big numbers are a real thing and your family can stick by you it will all be worth it. So I hear anyway. I'm hoping to be out of this stuff in 3-5 years if my side business keeps doing very well.
