Colgan SAABS

We so need to have a party up here in Maine once mark arrives.

Have you figured out a crash pad yet? Do you still need a car?

I lost my cell charger, so if you called, well I dont know about it.

Margaritas is cool if there is one in AUG, other than that your night life is an hour away in Portland.

Yes, there is a Margaritas in AUG. :D

Coming out of AUS today, there was a Colgan Saab at our 3 o'clock, and ATC called the traffic to us. I couldn't help myself. "Roger, we've got the company traffic in sight." :)

How is the PIT and CMH flying going?? How hard is it to get one of those as a base?

I think they're going well. Haven't flown out of either yet, so I don't know.....but all of the PIT flying thus far is EAS, so it is what it is....guaranteed money.

As far as getting either as a base, I think it'll be VERY EASY. The lines are terrible, so no one wants to go there unless they live there. From what I've seen, the avg. PIT lines are for 40-50 block w/ 12 days off. CMH is a little better; but still no gem. :( NO THANKS, not for this guy......Hope I don't wind up there as a Capt.

Schedule has got to figure it out and get the lines better, dont they?? With reduced crews (looking to hire) they should be maximizing the lines to use the reduce crews.

Opps, I think I was thinking rationally there! Sorry.

I kinda thought PIT would be good as you guys go to quite a few different airports like SYR which goes to LGA (LGA is awesome:D).

It's awesome until you are trying to get home on your last day and you call for push to 23 and ground tells you you are in the sequence and about number 75. Oh yeah, LGA is awesome alright.:)

Yeah haven't been there when it's like that. I can see where it would get stressful.

Well, unfortunately it doesn't work like that at Colgan. With the outstation basing, the outstations go to the hubs like PIT, LGA, BOS, etc... The PIT crews go to MGW, PKB and CKB.....as far as I know. Don't know if they have any other flying than the WV EAS routes. I think the SYR crews go to LGA and sometimes to ORF. Obviously on any given day, any crew can cover a route for some other base.....it just depends on need.

Oh, ok. I saw you had added PIT-SYR flying so I didn't know if maybe those PIT crews got to do any of those turns.

I go Roc-BDL (Hartford, Ct.) and ROC-LGA. Our lines have pretty long block times so on my short days I only fly 1 round trip. Long days are two. Four days a week. I'll second LGA sucking. The only good thing is that once you're off the gate you're getting paid. We sat in sequence for 3 hours a couple of weeks ago. Which translates to about 60 bucks for me. I've definitly worked harder for 60 bucks in my life :).

Do you guys at Colgan think they will add any more SAAB 340's or is the current fleet it? It seems like it's becoming harder to get them. Also, when are they gonna stop painting em in that Captain America scheme? Hahaha I'm kidding. I see why it makes sense so you can use them for any of the carriers.

I was just in Abilene, TX the other day and American Eagle has over 20 Saabs parked out there- just sitting in the grass.

I don't know if they're A models, but seems like a waste to me. Especially when you hear the CJC MEL horror stories.

Last I heard Colgan was trying to pick up as many SAAB 340's as they can so I would think that stockpile will be utilized. They've already got a few ex Eagle/Biz EX. I didn't know how plentiful they were so that's why I asked if they'd add any more but sounds like they can still get some more.

Eagle is bringing those planes back and soon you shouldn't see so many sitting out there. I'll admit it's kind of strange to see them all sitting out there.
