Colgan Fined for Crew Rest Violations

Roger that! I never hesitated to ensure the crews physiological needs were met, regardless of schedule. And certainly worked to fix many "glitches." :D Want to schedule us unrealistically? Fine...but don't be surprised when it doesn't work out in your favor.
I will say, you definitely walked the walk!
"Hey man, you want the checklist?"
"Nope, not yet."
"Checklist?"
"Nope, not yet."
Door closes.
"Ok, we can do the checklist now."

That was definitely a lesson that stuck with me!

Matt, that's the best way to ensure safety. I can't be distracted by checklists as passengers are boarding.

If a crew member (pilot, FA, whoever) is hungry, they can't safely accomplish their duties. That's how I see it, and that's how I've explained it to scheduling and management when asked "Why was the flight late." I've seen 11 minute turns scheduled during a trip due to a delay or an aircraft swap with no more than 20 minutes between legs for the rest of the day. At that point, we just accept the fact that one or more of those legs is gonna be much later than they thought they would be.
