Colgan closing NE outstations

Just read a response to a question in the ALPA CJC Scheduling Inbox, it looks as if the 9L crewtrac should be updated to at least recognize minimum day pay before the month is out. When it comes to leg by leg block or better, thats another story.

I have at least 5 days in my line this month that are below min day pay.

Oh, the 4 hour min day is in there for CrewTrac....it just doesn't show on the pilot payroll report. It shows your credit for a pairing with less than 4 hours block for the day as 4 hours, but if you go into the pilot payroll report, it just shows what the credit is for the legs flown....

9l doesn't get a payroll report, we have monthly credit... and it's in there for my days. Just showed up last night.. my "credit" went up by a bunch.

You guys don't have the option in the CrewTrac menu for "pilot payroll report?" I use that all the time to keep track of scheduling's screw ups. They still haven't given me my "increase guarantee by 1 hour" from the RR escalation last Sunday....

hey Colgan guys, what are your DOHs of the senior (the top few) IAH SAAB FOs, and IAH SAAB Captain line holders now a days?

thanks

At this point I'll eat a turd sandwhich if it means upgrade. I'm tired of seeing Captains junior to me in IAH. Bout time they FINALLY released some of us Q fo's to upgrade.

Yes- left seat SAAB is certianly living the dream. :sarcasm:

Study hard.

It'll be interesting if we get a bid out before the ISL. Apparently under the contract since it's a displacement, it's a bump and flush. If you're at the bottom in a base or in a seat, you could lose it. The good news is, the only bases possible are BOS, IAD, IAH, EWR and CRW. Im assuming the bumped will end up in CRW.

Keep in mind that if they put it out before the ISL, then it's old rules according to the integration LOA. If it's like us, then they may take the option of absorbing secondary displacements. Can senior guys volunteer for the displacement in lieu of junior pilots being involuntarily displaced?

In the past it's been whatever the company felt like doing.

Can you give me an example of what your scenario describes?

Im looking at 24.E.1 - 24.E.2. Which is not listed under the integration, so I would assume if this is a pure displacement, it would be in effect under the current contract.

E. Displacement
1. A Pilot who is Displaced from his permanent Position may displace the most
junior Pilot in any Position provided he is senior to such Pilot. Such Displaced
Pilot(s) will be entitled to occupy any Position to which his seniority entitles him,
and he will attend training for the Position that he is displacing into in accordance
with this Section.
However, a senior Pilot who holds the same Position as a Displaced Pilot
junior to him may assume the displacement entitlement of the junior Pilot.
The senior Pilot will be required to utilize the junior Pilot’s seniority on such
bid. A Pilot will notify the Manager of Crew Planning of his desire to assume
a displacement, in accordance with the directions on the Realignment or
Reduction Notice. A Pilot may make his volunteer status contingent upon
his ability to obtain a particular position.
2. When a Pilot is Displaced from his present permanent Position to a new
permanent position, he is entitled to temporarily occupy his new Category in the
Domicile he is being Displaced from if:a. his bid preference form shows (at the time of the Award of the new
position) a higher preference for the new Category in the Domicile he is
being Displaced from than the Domicile he is being Displaced into; and
b. there is one or more Pilots junior to him in his new Category in the
Domicile he is being Displaced from or there is a shortage of Pilots in that
Category; and
c. the Pilot notifies the Manager of Crew Planning, in writing, prior to the
Completion of Training or his move date, that he is exercising his rights
pursuant to this provision.
A Pilot who exercises this provision will not be Displaced from the
Domicile he currently occupies until all Pilots junior to him are
Displaced from that position.

The senario above allows for a senior pilot to "borrow" a junior pilots seniority number when there are displacements. So, if a senior pilot wants to be displaced, he can enact his right to do so, and for the entire displacement process he will use the borrowed seniority number. Seems like it wouldn't be used too often, perhaps when a senior guy wants to make a change and wants the company to help pay for it.

It's actually in LOA 2. Says, basically, XJ and 9L are new agreement, but 9E is old agreement until there is an SLI. I think we're under the old agreement still because it was actually better in terms of cash for those being displaced.

Im guessing there are now multiple reasons why they havent given a date on the displacement. One reason is because they know as soon as an ISL is done, there will be lots of moving around anyway. Two, under the new JCBA, they may be screwed out of LOTS of training costs. We currently have many junior guys finishing up upgrade, if they were to announce a displacement tomorrow, then many of those guys who literally just finished IOE, probably could no longer hold Captain, because its given other guys time to get their time to hold Captain. Three, they probably dont know what the hell to do because so many guys are handing in their papers. I know of at least 2 guys that have quit in the past 2 weeks. Attrition is really picking up over here at 9L.

Im flying with one of our APDs this month, and he said that the company monitors how many, and which people make records requests, when another airline wants your paperwork in case of hiring you, and he said that the company is seeing a drastic increase in those requests, and know that they cannot stop hiring and upgrading.

I vote all of the above. I'm sure the training costs have a LOT to do with it, but I'd almost bet the fact they have no clue is an equal part of what's going on. Hey, they displaced guys from MSP-JFK only to have a TDY from JFK to MSP for those same positions the NEXT MONTH.

Just wait until 2012...Theoretically, it is supposed to see the largest number of retirees in history and I expect to see many people leaving all 3 airlines unless they really like it here or just don't care anymore like myself.

But only until December. Then the world ends.
