In addition to my duties as a pilot and CRM instructor, I am also a volunteer with ExpressJet ALPA's CIRP (Critical Incident Response Program). We have volunteers going to each of the Colgan bases for the next few days. Sadly, I have been assigned to facilitate some recurrent classes, so I will not be able to be in the crew room.
I know there are many Colgan crews who participate here at JetCareers, as well as friends and family of Colgan crewmembers. Should anyone, not just a crewmember, want to talk CONFIDENTIALLY about what you are going through in the aftermath of this disaster, please feel free to give me a call. I am offering this unofficially, not as a pilot or CIRP volunteer, but rather as a friend.
I really wish I could participate in the live chat Kristie has set up this evening, but I will be enroute to Newark during that time. As I mentioned earlier, I also will be facilitating recurrent classes over the next few days, so if you do call I may have to return your call at a later time. I apologize.
Just please remember one thing: It is completely natural to have widely different reactions to an event such as this. The important thing is feeling comfortable to express your emotions with your friends and family (or even strangers), and not keep them bottled up inside.
