Also forgot...
I forgot to lock in my heating oil rate during the summer one summer.
So when January came around, I just about freaking died when I saw my heating oil bill - $1200... (rent for the house was just $900) There went my airplane renting/flight training budget for the month.
Don't know if that option will be available for you whereever you're staying.

Well, I'm a guy who grew up in FL who is now living in AK. Honestly I think I much prefer it up here. This winter I had to work the graveyard shift out on the ramp for about three weeks where the temps were like -5 or so. Wear Carhartts, get the job done, and then go sit in the crew van for an hour, repeat. Nothing to it.

Dont worry about the cold, here in toronto just be dressed properly and you can handle the winter.
You miss having the value on certain things like once it got warm in toronto i started to really valuing the warm temperature, after a long and cold winter.
