One of the reasons that a company would have Gulfstreams and Hawkers is because they are a good mix. All of the missions probably do not require mega range and if you try to go to some of the smaller airports in a Gulfstream, you may be able to take off and land, but will have big fun trying to maneuver on a small ramp.
The other reason is because sometimes the big guys might be down for maintenance. If you have people used to riding in a GV and you try to put them into a small jet, it doesn't always work. The Hawker is a midsize and has a stand up cabin. It is one of the smallest jets that still has the 'big airplane feel' if that makes any sense.
