Classy move by JetBlue

Can I just say how impressive this is? I have never flown on JetBlue, but I do love Terra Blue Potato Chips so I imagine it wouldn't be a bad airline to fly. :D I am sure there aren't a ton of families that may need this, but just the offer to help is something that shows class in my book.

Like many of you, we continue to watch reports of the Orlando nightclub shooting with great sadness. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.

This weekend’s events are felt by all of our 19,000 crewmembers, many of whom live in, work from and travel through Orlando – one of our focus cities – at Orlando International Airport, our Orlando Support Center and JetBlue University.

We want to do our part to help the victims of this tragedy, as well as support the Orlando community through this difficult time.

  • JetBlue is providing free seats on its available flights to/from Orlando for immediate family and domestic partners of victims who were killed or injured. Those family members and domestic partners requiring travel assistance can contact 1-800-JETBLUE for details.
  • A fee waiver is in place for customers traveling to/from Orlando who need to make last-minute changes to their travel plans.
  • For JetBlue crewmembers impacted by this event, we have activated resources to assist and are offering a donation program. Crewmembers can visit our internal website, hellojetblue, or talk to their crewleader for more details.
  • JetBlue will make a charitable contribution to support the victims and their families.

The airline is very LGBQT friendly and I think this offer is just a natural extension of that. As was the similar offer made during NYPD funerals (JB employing many ex NYPD/FDNY).

At the risk of sounding LGBT discriminatory, I think pretty much every airline is. I've worked in a few industries, and there seems to be far more LGBT's in aviation, than anywhere else. I have more gay friends now than I ever thought I'd have. Seems like better than half of the male FA's are gay.

I agree most airlines are, Jetblue even more. Pretty sure the longest serving CEO of the company was a member of the community.

Maybe so, but why aren't any other airlines being as generous? It's no more than 100 free plane tickets. How much did that positive press cost, when the returns on that investment will be well over that.

I don't segregate my friends and colleagues based on their sexual orientation. I segregate based on their level of awesomeness.

Allegiant and jetBlue is what I've seen reported.

I didn't know about Allegiant, but that is great that they are doing the same thing. Delta is offering assistance, but not free tickets. It's really too late for any others to jump on board.

I would think that JB is doing it because they have a base in MCO/Orlando. Plus, they are pretty awesome.

Most of their employees are not union, so does that really matter? Most contract talks don't seem to be going well at any airline in that situation.

In the information gathering for your boyfriend you should know then that their pilots are proud ALPA members.

...welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, we're so glad you can attend, step inside, step inside...

Pilots aren't the only employees, my furry friend. ;)
