class 1 eyes

hello my english is not very good, btw im hassan im living in the uk i have done my class 1 medical last week. The medical examiner of the eyes said to me that my vision is amazing evreything is ok but i have a muscle imbalance in my eye. soo they send me to a specialist for a final decision coz my muscle imbalance was out the limits. so today i was at gatwick i see the specialist and he says i can control my eye muscle very good i have no double vision but he failed me coz my eye muscle imbalance value was outside the limits of CAA so he said that i have 20% chance to get double vision when i get old in the future so he can not pass me and he said me to give up my dream. Now i will do appeal or i can do my class 1 FAA in USA or what can i do ? i dont want to give up my dream im very sad today what is your opinion ?

First, understand that I am NOT a doctor, and have absolutely ZERO medical training!

You may want to research what the actual vision requirements are for a US medical certificate, but I doubt they are much different. You may still be eligible for a class 2 or 3 medical certificate here in the US which could allow you to fly other non-airline commercial jobs, or privately for pleasure, but without that 1st class, you don't have any chance at the airlines. Other countries may do it differently, that's up to you to research for yourself since I doubt anyone here can help you with that.

I WOULD get a second opinion for sure. Perhaps there is a waiver you could get? Perhaps there is some option for surgery or other treatment of your condition that might eventually allow you to obtain a medical certificate? Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
 
Thankyou sir for your reply i know about class 2 and 3 and now im doing my class 2 for ppl but my dream is to become an airline pilot to have the control and fly with that huge beast boeing 737 or airbus since childhood, i also heard that if i dont have double vision is not a problem but i dont know why he failed me and said to me give up your dream my heart is in pieces right know but i will never give up i dont want anyone to destroy my dream since childhood so easily, i have also heard that the class 1 in america is much more easier than the UK one and i heard also there are pilot in airlines with one 1 eye or pilot who have class 1 with dilopia double vision by Doing FAA SODA Self demostrating thing i dont really know much of that for know but i will do some research and there are so many option i guess. but the doctor here said me that what i have it cannot be fixed there is only one way who is surgery that he will not reccomend to me because is dangerous there is risk to have double vision straight after the surgery and so many sideeffects so now just want to ask again to anyone if i can achieve my dream ? is there any possibility because my eyes are straight my vision is 20/20 no color blindness and what i have is a Phoria who means i guess hidden squint and i also dont have double vision than he (caa eye specialist) said that i can become a airliner pilot coz i dont have double vision but the value of my phoria was 35 i think and it was out side the limits and there are 20 % of chance to get double vision when i get old but for now im perfectly ok but he didnt passed me anyway because of the value number the reason is so weird and lame my Personal opthometrist said that the reason to failing me is very weird and lame btw again, can i achieve my dream there is some chance to get my class one in other country like usa new zeland or other places ? thankyou waiting for answers :)

I think perhaps you should consult another doctor. If they agree with the diagnosis, perhaps they would at least be more willing to explore options for treatment. Don't give up. The bottom line though, is that you must get that 1st class medical certificate, and no amount of discussion here is going to help you with that. You need to explore your options with a doctor. Some phoria values were beyond the limits so I have a SODA for an eye imbalance from the FAA. I guess my question is how you plan to work/live in the US if you are a UK citizen? And yes the FAA 1st class standards are a lot easier to pass and deal with waivers/SODAs than the UK 1st class. I can tell you with what I have, I would not have been able to hold a UK 1st class medical.

Just googled her too. Sounds like they were very popular in their times. I missed out on that history, moving here in the 90s and never got into the Classics in Hollywood.

Thankyou sir for the info :) And i know FAA is easier but again they (CAA) have failed me for no reason with no guarantee and proof. 1st of all when i have done my medical class 1 at heathrow the opthometrist said that "evreything is ok i have a slight muscle balance problem who is over the limits but dont worry if our consultant will find that your eyes are fit for flying we will issue your class 1. I went to their specialist, he checked my eyes in like 10 minutes and than he says to me: "you have exophoria who is outside the limits, but your brain in the way hes controlling it is amazing no one can see the phoria that you have your eyes are pointing straight the muscle control is good aswell and etc. your fusional reserve are amazing they prevent diplopia till the 25 level (Who is the last level) of the prism glass bar, usually the majority of people see double in the 16-17 level, but your eyes are amazing they keep fusing till last level so no diplopia, your eyes are currently fine to fly as an Airline pilot but i cannot Pass you because the value number of your exophoria is outside the limits but i have the power to overwrite it but no i wont because according to me there is 10-20% chance in the future that you can have double vision when you get old. Soo stop dreaming and change your carrier".

so on that point my heart was in pieces and still it is the way he said it to me to give up my dream was to rude.

so i went to other diffrent opthometrist specialists and whoever i have meet they keep saying that they disagree with the opinion of the CAA consultant, my chance to have diplopia are 0%.

Now i dont know what to do, there is an appeal process in uk CAA but it will take too much time and money aswell with no guarantee of success, + i have already payed like more than 1000£ for my class 1 medical and CAA consultant fees and etc. and at the end they failed me. The FAA medical is my last and best option i guess and i have heard from an FAA AME that phoria can be over the limits, no promlem, unless the airman dont have diplopia the certificate should be issued.
