Clarity Aloft headsets

are officially the bomb! Mine is quieter than my ANR Lightspeeds.

One problem,

Does anyone know a way to clean the earplugs? Mine last about 6 weeks before they get too gross and I replace them. The replacements are not expensive, but if I can just clean the old ones I'd rather go that route.

6 Weeks! damn I go a month max (depending on how much I fly), yeah they are a bit expensive but i think it about equals the price of batteries a year.

Anyways. I string mine on some fishing line and then wash by hand with dish soap and hang dry. They are clean but not as good as new, Ive only washed once then replaced.

I agree the clarity aloft headset is the best. I tried to was the ear plugs in water, however they seemed to lose their seal after they got wet.

I bought the pro version about two months ago. Love them except for one thing, the mic. Does any one think the mic picks up too much background noise? To be fair I've only used them in the lear45. Other then the mic they're great.

I've had my pros for about 5 years now and love them. I try not to be cheap and replace the buds every month. Washing them just doesn't cut it. I did have the plastic screw piece where the bud goes snap on a set. The customer service was great and I got a new headset to replace my old ones.

Another reason why I like the Quiet Technologies Halo better. You can buy the ear tips for those at any audiologist in your home town for just a few pennies each. Last time I was out I went to a hearing aid store down the street and the doctor gave me a bag of them for free.

Dang, over $500 for foam ear plugs and passive electronics.... seems steep. I like the concept though.

I saw one review that said he couldn't wear these with glasses or sunglasses, it doesn't look like it'd be that big of a problem to me, but have you run into any issues like that?

Get the personalized ear-mold plugs, more expensive at first but easier to clean, more comfortable and lasts forever.

My CAs are fine with glasses. Much easier than a normal headset because they don't break the seal of the cups.

I've heard of a lot of pilots using them in jets, but how are they in piston single aircraft? Like, a noisy, lousy-interior late-60s model 172?

At $350 these seem a bit more reasonable, for what they are. I might give these a shot, will think on it a bit.

All I have to compare them to in my Warrior are the DCs, but the CAs are quieter in my experience.

Ive used them in a PA-28, PA-44, PA-31 and now a C-208 always very quiet no matter the enviroment, I used a bose headset for a few flights in a PA-31 and i prefer my CA's

I've been flying with a Mach 1 for over 5 years. Used in Saab, Dash, CRJ, and a few times flying pistons. Works great. I think they've stopped selling it though.
