CL-60 Challenger down in CO

Man this is sad. I work at an FBO and ever since I started working there I kept track of all the aircraft I have come in contact with. I remember writing down on Oct 31st that I refueled a Challenger. My first Challenger. I remember it because the fueling system on it is so difficult. Sure enough when I read the N-number I knew it was the plane I refueled on the 31st. Im just hoping it wasn't the same crew I met. Thoes guys were so cool and nice. Anybody else have a similar situation where they came in contact with a plane that later crashed?

So is the motto for the F-117A: "When it absolutely, positively has to be there without radar contact in non-icing conditions"?

We can get it there. We have a this funky deicing system that utilizes multiple methods to help clean that crap off. But prior to that, we have an anti-ice system that works real good for the inlets as well as the sensor probes, since the latter is what the FBW depends on.

Do you mean the 123 rule in terms of requiring an alternate?

Throw them the "141 - 22 & 1/2" part 121 rule!

123, exempt 3585, 141 22-1/2 -- it becomes second nature after a while.

LOL. I'd forgotten about that. We use a 3-3-2 rule for needing an alternate. If WX at destination, +/- 1 hr, is forecast to be less than 3000/3 or 2 above the lowest landing min, then file an alternate. For the alternate it's 1/2/5/1....that is, at ETA at the alternate, forecast must be 1000/2 or 500/1 above the lowest landing min available.

What was the subject of the post again?

j/k All this lingo talk and I was feeling left out.

I had to say something. Not really. Carry On men. I am off to see the sand man.

Man I must be getting slow in my old age - it took me a solid 5 minutes to figure out what you were referring to with "141- 22 1/2" but that does make it a little easier to remember doesn't it?

Now if you reallllly want to get things rolling let's start discussing the definition of "marginal" and when and why that definition changes!

Killed in the crash were the pilot, Luis Alberto Polanco Estaillat, 50, from the Dominican Republic, and a flight attendant, Warren T. Richardson III, 36, of Coral Gables, Florida. The co-pilot, who has not been identified, remains in "very critical" condition in the burn unit of a Denver hospital, Young said.

Are there many foreign nationals working in the US as pilots? Or did this guy pay for his seat?

I didn't know the pilot but for what I understand, He was highly experienced. I don't think he bought his way into the Captains seat.

And to answer your question, yes I know a few foreign nationals flying here in the US.
