CJC Rumor Mill

In the past week I have heard from 4 separate sources, 2 of which do not work at CJC, that Chautaqua is going to be pulling out of IAH in 09 and the flying is going to be taken over by CJC Q-400's and also XJT EMB's.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any information to back these rumors up. I found this investor's update for CAL dated 12/11/08 which shows the fleet plan through Year End 2010 which shows reduction of CHQ's CRJS but doesn't show any increase in the numbers of Q-400's. (check page 5)

Has anyone else heard anything about this rumor?

I have heard nothing regarding CHQ pulling out of IAH. I did read that report and noticed they have no increase in Q's planned.

Did you get the memo about the lil anniversary party they are throwing for the Q in Feb? that would be a good time for a announcement don't you think? Maybe we'll hear something then.

Oh, here we go again..."hey everybody, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT first week of Feb!!" :D

Horizon is deferring Q400 deliveries. Maybe Colgan will be able to push up the dates that they are getting some of their Q's.:D

The leases on the CRJ's expire in 2009, this isn't new information. They're retraining crews at CHQ on other pieces of equipment right now, as they'll be gone soon.

I doubt Express will pick up anything.

Block hours are steadily increasing JTrain... above and beyond what was negotiated.

Ya never know...

That is, of course, great to hear; but in my mind it means little until airframes/pilots are brought back on to cover said block hours. I know it helps the guys there right now, and every bit helps, but it does little for the folks shoved to the street. Obviously it doesn't affect me much, but it'll affect my buddies who are waiting to come back.

Did you know that they are using Reserve CA's in the right seat?

It's pretty nuts... we seem to be short on FO's and Block Hours are increasing... we're thinking somethings gotta give in the near future.

I've heard more COLAs were done recently and round two of the F word is a hot rumor.

The rumors will all be different next week anyway, as these companies are working for bigger companies who have their OWN rumors flying around...

Well, that's certainly one contrasting rumor from what we're experiencing...

I think everyone is about to see a screeching halt on their block hours. We're displacing 31 CAs in March, but we're JMing and extending like there's no tomorrow back in Dec and this month. Word is, we're losing a ton of block hours starting in March. Maybe CAL is doing the same thing.

Last Flt Ops update call showed block hours up and CAL using more of our airframes than originally contracted.

But... it can all change of course. I'm just reporting the current conditions.
