CJC August Lines

I think a large part of the schedule problems at CJC are due to the pathetic routes we fly on the Saab in IAD and IAH.

The legs are too short. 20 mins to CHO, BPT, CLL and SHD. 40 to SCE, ABE and MGW/CKB. Throw in there that some of these don't leave during the Star bank. We would have to fly 8 legs a day to get the flying time Jinxy gets in a SLC turn.

Just saw crew legality, looks like another 17 or 18 day off line. Thank you Uncle Jinglepants!

Yup, Jinglepants gave me 17 days off for July. If I were still in LGA, I'd have 17 off again for August. I don't know how it is on the 900 side, but on the Saab side up here in LGA, it seems like the lines are getting more efficient with the union guys building the pairings. The cutoff from a guy holding to 17 days off to somebody holding 11 days off is not as drastic as it used to be earlier in the year.

Exactly.

And when will people realize they fly for a piece of trash regional airline? No one came here for the good schedules.

I believe this is the main culprit. If we had longer flights the lines could be built a lot better for us and spandex

Its no wonder management didnt want the 4 hour min day for Dulles flying.

Some of the senior PILOTS over at 9E didn't want the 4 hour min day. They were convinced that we'd all lose days off because the company would build ever day right up to 4 hours and no more. Well, yeah, that's never gonna happen with our staffing. MEM is being SAVED by the friggin' 4 day min because the pairings are so inefficient. Meanwhile, us guys up in JFK are looking at 23-24 hour 4 days. I've got a 23 hour 4 day (19 hours of block) followed by a 7 hour 2 day next month. They had to give me a week off afterwards or I'd have gone over 30/7. If I'd just bid for total days off, I'd be looking at 18 days off for August. I haven't had 18 days off since I was a senior FO. As it is, PBS gave me everything I wanted for August: no less than 4 days off in a row, the second weekend of the month off, and I only have to spend one night in the crashpad.

Hey don't worry about Mesaba violating the contract! They got us fancy new sunshades! They care about us :)

Who would have thought that mesaba management would have done a worse job than Colgan?

Will Uncle Jinglepants be willing to give us back the 2 days per month on average we lost when we are called Mesaba? Never thought I would say this but PBS can't come quick enough!

I also look at it this way, when Colgan voted down the union the first time around, our schedules went to 10 days off and 65 credit hours with 13 hour duty days all around (complete with a 3.5 sit in boston everyday), so I guess we, Mesaba, are still doing fine. Sometimes we got to go past all our duty time stuff if they needed a MX repo at the end of the night, the FSDO said it was legal so obviously it was safe.

Anyway, enjoy the sunshades.

How about the New Mesaba? Hahaha. Didn't know we had sunshades, thats pretty good I suppose. Your definitely right about Colgan. I remember as a new hire when they wouldn't let Q FO's bid for a month or two they were just awarded lines, which we got at the last day of the month. How times have changed....

I'll take your word for it, until the Mem base closes for the Saab, then I suppose I'll get to learn all about the new Colgan in EWR or the new Pinnacle in JFK.

What kind of clueless senior pilot gets the notion that the company would build pairings that use flight crews right up to 50% of their daily limit?

Wow.

Unfortunately sometimes you have people who just need to see it and experience it to understand it. I have a feeling sometimes, with senior pilots, any change is bad in their eyes.

Changed yes, but they still revert back to the old ways from time to time.... What are Mesaba Saab schedules like? Were they a lot better before they started to park them?

Had it tough, I was always a lineholder and except for a 3 or 4 months over a period two years. Life was good, my only complaint was dealing with some of our 250 hour wonders who felt like me and every guy junior to them should get booted to FO because they finally had their 1500 hours and "God Dammit" it was their turn! It was 80-90 hours at those grandfathered payrates most months. Plus we got the whole per diem thing on every leg and every day. I always remember having plenty of days off to pick up open time if I wanted, or traveling to whatever friend/girlfriend I had at the time.

I may have pissed off a few with a pulled a Kris Bragg and asked them if I could sell them some of my PIC time because I was over 1000.

Just for giggles I went back to July '08 15 days off and 88 credit hours
Aug '08 94 hours and 13 days off
Sep '08 94 hours and 12 days off

Eh I miss the money and flying a real airplane.

So next month I work 10 days in a row. You may ask how this is legal but on my 7th day, I have a 30 hour layover in BKW so I get 24 hours off in 7 days. Can I really get the 24 hours off at an outstation? I can't find anything in the contract that disallows this. Anyone know of something I'm missing???

That was tried here before (pinnacle) but under our old contract it was 1 calendar day off in base so they would have to change the pairing to get you home for 1 day. Dont have the new contract in front of me but I would hope they left that in there.
