Citation Sale?

I'm looking in the Controller magazine, and it looks like UND is selling their 2008 Citation Mustang. Is the university aerospace department having problems? It's only selling for $2,395,000.

Yep, I've heard from the tower that China would like another King Air instead. Plus the Mustang never gets used.

The Mustang, with about an hr of fuel and 1 pilot, it has 600 lbs useful load. Most people want at least 2 people to go with their bags and the mustang just can't do that. Also, we normally operate with 2 pilots... hence useful load is even lower. Besides, the King Air is almost as fast, climbs just as fast, and has much MUCH more useful load.

I want to observe on the King Air (Can we even do that?).. does anyone know where the contract students fly the King Air? I heard someone telling me they fly to Las Vegas and back sometimes, but I have no clue.

B-b-b-b-but... I thought that the shiny UND marketing brochure with the fancy Mustang photo implied that I'd be able to fly it at UND! I guess won't be able to fly it when I attend UND next summer! Aaah shucks.

:sarcasm:

you can, but you need to talk with the students and instructors very early before their flight so they can get the fuel load correct.

I haven't seen Vegas, but BIS, AXN, DLH, MKT, STP, TVF, MOT, EAU, and CID are the only ones I can recall recently.

Currently there is two King Air's here. I know the C90 (N405DD) is owned by the aerospace foundation then there is the B200 (N646DR) that they were leasing and is(was) sitting on charlie ramp. Not sure what is happening with that one.

Sweet. I think its a good idea to have another King Air. They are awsome planes and they can use them as VIP transports. Do we know what type of King Air they want?
no idea what else they want to buy, but i know they want to buy 1 more. they have enough students where they need it.
