Citation III

i am looking into a Citation III (CE-650). Does anyone have info on the quality of this aircraft. I'm currently flying a BE-400 and barely fit in the cockpit. I'm 6'3 190lbs. Would I got in the citation III. this is not the CJ3.

Currently flying a CE-650. At 6'2" & 220lbs I fit fine up front.

The pros- it does 410-430 & .80-.83 regularly. When lighter and temps are right, 450. Ideal trips are 1,000NM-1,200NM.

The cons- 6,000' can be short depending on the trip. When we get dispatched to somewhere 6,000' or less, I look at the numbers real hard to make sure it'll work. It is very maintenance intense. My airplane just came out of maintenance last week and is going back to maintenance for another issue next week. Parts are becoming scarce. I enjoy the time off, but the owner doesn't like the maintenance bills.

Feel free to message me for me details.

I used to fly a VII. Pretty much what people have said, but overall great flying plane! We used to take it in and out of a 4000' strip. This was part 91. You could fly for about about hour maybe a little more at that length. Also it was always bleeds off flaps 20, or whatever the oddball setting was!

We have 2 Cit VII we used to have one guy that was about 6'5" 200 lbs that fix just fine. Good flying airplane but like others have said it's a real MX hog, eats runway for breakfast, and the range is a bit low for being a mid sized jet.

Im used to flying old airplanes but the one I'm looking at is an 1984 with over 12000 hours. I feel that is very high time and is going to cause maitenance issues. It just came off of a 135 ticket and going on a different one. There is just a 2 man crew with a contractor when needed.
What are common issues with high time citation III ?

Holy high time batman. With that kind of time and cycles the short list of maintenance concerns is going to be: everything. In the last year alone the airplane I fly (Also 1984 6,xxx hours and 5,xxx cycles) has had repairs in the lav and main cabin door frame because of corrosion, both packs replaced, avionics issues, hydraulic issues, two scheduled inspections one of which took 6 weeks, plus all the normal wear and tear of tires/ brakes etc...

NBAA has a salary survey out there for 91 and 135. It is published annually and broken down by make and models. From what I've experienced it is fairly accurate.

Bleeds off, flaps 7 and pucker factor 10.

12000 hours! dang, ours have 5500 and 8300 hours both are 7's and they spend about 1/3 to half the time down for MX. Both planes are at only 200 ish hours for the year because they have been down so much.

On mine, everything breaks or needs attention. Mostly unscheduled maintenance.

I love flying it. We fly into Bermuda Dunes all year round. No problems. chief pilot can give you hard numbers if you need them.

Yeah...Super fun to fly...breaks when you least expect half way through a trip on every trip. Flew a part 91 650 for about 6 months!
