Cirrus to make personal jet

No Coaster yet! hahaha I haven't figured out who they decided to give them to and who they didn't. I bought my Cirrus New from the factory so you think I would be on "the list". I know a guy that bought his cirrus used from somebody and got the coaster. Who knows. I saw they announced the the engine yesterday. The Williams engine will have 1900lbs of thrust. That is more than Eclipse's 2 900lbs of thrust. I thought it was going to be a personal jet, not a VLJ?? We'll see what they come up with.

I think I got the coaster because ALOT of them learned my name due to issues with the Cirrus I fly. They ended up sending a Cirrus Pilot out to do some final checks on the aircraft and fine tune the autopilot (Cirrus Service Center didnt know how to do it).

So you didnt get the invite for free golf up in Traverse City, MI, or the Bahama weekend either?? :(

I thought they were teaming up with HondaJet. I can't really see the plane that good in the pic, got a link for better pics?
Yeah, I know about them teaming up with HondaJet, but I think they still want to develop their own, and possibly use the GEHonda turbine engine. That's the only pic I saw on the web so far, and Piper doesn't have a shot of it on it's website yet. This was unveiled recently at the NBAA show. Here's the link at Avweb. Can we put fake engines on the side so it will look like a baby 727? :nana2:

No, I didn't get the invite for free golf! hahaha But I did get info about the Bahama fly-in however I can't go that weekend in November. I am going to do my own flight down to the Bahamas for a few days at the end of November.

There is no real definition that I am aware of that defines what a 'personal jet' is. Even the term VLJ is rather nebulous. It pretty much is being used to label any new jet that is smaller than a CJ1 (the current CJ1+ weighs in at 10,800lbs) Currently the NBAA defines the VLJ as follows:

very light jets are jet aircraft weighing 10,000 pounds or less (a distinction from the traditional definition of large aircraft as more than 12,500 pounds, and light aircraft as 12,500 pounds or less) and certificated for single pilot operations. These aircraft will possess at least some of the following features: (1) advanced cockpit automation such as moving map GPS and multi-function displays; (2) automated engine and systems management; and (3) integrated autoflight, autopilot and flight-guidance systems.
