You know, the Cirrus really is a capable little plane. Unfortunately, it seems to attract the idiots like moths to a light-bulb.

Just another example of Money>Brains. Most of the trouble with the Cirrus and its safety record has very little to do with the plane itself.

The FAA stuff says something ridiculous like +10 to -40. I have never seen the slightest trace of ice at +5.

I've had a trace at about +3, but +10 seems crazy excessive.

The only ice I've ever collected at +10 is carb ice

All I can tell ya is that the SR20/22 is the V Tailed Bo of the 21th Century.

I saw that and tried to come up with something witty first. In the end I just got depressed and I think you know why.

How can you tell if you're legitimately not picking anything up vs. the system is keeping everything off? I've flown in "icing conditions" and not seen anything stick to the airplane.

TKS turns the ice into a mushy substance that rolls off the leading edge. You can tell when your picking it up.
