The weather turned bad and while we were sitting on the ground the guy remarks to me 'Ya know I don't feel competent flying in this kind of weather, but I would fly my cirrus. The FAA is rather clear about icing types and their corresponding formation temperatures. I'll have to see if there's any truth to that the next time I encounter icing.

The confusion between ATC and the guy trying to report "A light bit of trace ice" going into the Minneapolis area the other day was beautiful.

I love it when some hillbilly up in the flight levels says "Hey center, 123 SugaPop is getting a little bit of light to moderate here at 390. Any reports up higher?"

Light to moderate what? UV exposure?

It's the fact that he is flying in conditions that he obviously does not understand. You could also make the argument that, hey, he could have just been trying to get out of a bad situation, so kudos for fessing up before killing himself.
But I chose to find humor in a ridiculous remark in a pirep.
We've all done dumb things and we all know it. Laugh a little.
