CHQ and UAL split

I don't see how express flying could possibly grow with United any time soon. Less mainline airplanes = less airplanes for the regionals to feed.

I agree, but regional is mainline it seems.

Take US Airways for instance.

Let's say I want to fly from New York to Minneapolis. There aren't any direct flights. You must connect through Philadelphia. Your itinerary would like like this...

LGA-PHL operated by Piedmont Airlines on a Dash 8.
PHL-MSP operated by Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation on a Canadair Regional Jet.

Two major cities, connected via Express operations on regional airplanes. Regionals feed regionals under the mainline brand.

It is insane what has happened to the landscape of this industry with the introduction of regional feed operations.

We've now reached a point in this business where regional airplanes don't need to feed mainline airplanes anymore. Regionals are so big that regional airplanes now feed other regional airplanes. The UAL 737s are getting sent to the desert, meanwhile UAL Express is planned to grow by at least 10%. Ridiculous situation.

Oops, I'm sorry we are on the same point of thinking, I guess.
