Position Summary
Rapid Air II, LLC is seeking a candidate for a Chief Pilot position. The ideal candidate possesses good analytical and organizational skills, is a motivated, self-starter with the drive necessary to develop at a pace consistent with the Company’s flexible and changing environment. The position demands a meticulous approach with the ability to adjust to rapidly changing circumstances.

The Chief Pilot, mandated by 14 CFR 119.69, is responsible for establishing and maintaining adequate flight crew members, ensuring initial and continued qualification requirements, and developing, revising, and administering pilot training programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing, supervising, and observing flight crew personnel to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Creates and updates training materials and programs, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, instructional handouts and other training aids
  • Assists with selection and hiring of new crewmembers.
  • Ensures that flight crew members are properly trained and qualified for necessary operations and that training records are certified and current
  • Selects, trains, and supervises instructors and check airmen to ensure effective pilot training and checking including periodic meetings to review changes and identify deficiencies
  • Serves as Director of Operations during absence, including, but not limited to, the responsibility for the safety and operational control of all flights conducted under 14 CFR Part 135
  • Serves as Ground and Flight Instructor and Check Airman as qualified/necessary
  • Assist the Director of Operations in developing company procedures
  • Reports to the Director of Operations.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings and be qualified to serve as Pilot-In-Command (PIC)
  • At least 5,000 flight hours
  • Minimum 1,500 hours of PIC experience
  • Class I Medical
  • Meet FAA 135 Chief Pilot experience requirements:
    • For an individual becoming a Chief Pilot for the first time ever: at least 3 years of PART 135/121 experience as PIC within the past 6 years;
    • For an individual with previous experience as a Chief Pilot: at least 3 years of PART 135/121 experience as PIC.
