Not sure where in Chicago you're planning to stay, but you could give Griffith Aviation (05C) a look. It's in Griffith, Indiana which is just a little bit south of East Chicago and Gary, IN.
They have 150s, 152s, a 172, a Warrior, and a Dutchess. Last time I checked (a couple of months ago) the 152 was renting for $80 wet and the 172 and Warrior were going for $104 wet.

I have been a long time member of the Fox Flying Club.We have a lot of great guys with clean and very well maintained airplanes. Our Membership meeting's are the 2nd thursday of each month, stop on out and visit us sometime.

Flight World LTD at KPWK has a Super Decathalon. Also, there is a place at KARR with a super decathalon and extra 300.

I don't think so, this is usually our slow time of the year. I emailed the membership guy and as soon as I find out I will let you know.

The Stearman is out of C09 with Blue Sky Aero, they also have a Citabria.

Gauntlet also has a T6... I don't think they allow solo rentals though. (for obvious reasons)

Wow what a swanky place...they hiring full time CFIs?

The guys in Fox Flying club know me personally. They're a great flying club and have around 70 members, and I believe 4 planes. Only a handful of those 70 actually fly. The rest just hang out and what not. Illinois Aviation is good if you want to wait around for 30 minutes while everyone ignores you, and have some of the worst interior airplanes. But they're cheap. Travel Express is available, but requires $1,000 down which does count towards some flying, but it's required up front for initiation, etc... Northwest Flyers out of 06C is pretty good, etc ...
