I'm instructing in a PA 28, all I have flown up to this piont are cessna. please give me any insight on this plane. From take off, cruis, manuvers to landings. Thanks

Maybe you should go fly it before you instruct in it.

I've flown plenty of airplanes the first time as an instructor that I have never flown before. Mooney's, Bonanza's, Cardinals, etc.

Why? Because a single engine piston airplane is a single engine piston airplane is a single engine piston airplane. They all fly the same relatively. No of any quirks of the bat...example: the Mooney bounce and if it is an RG have a basic understanding of the gear system and emergency gear procedures. Other then that follow the checklist.

As for that aircraft follow the checklist everything else is the same as a Cessna relatively.

Just review the performance charts so you know what kind of takeoff/landing performance you can expect. The one I flew had no brakes on the instructor side, so that sucked.

Study the POH for an hour.

Other than that, it's the same wing, the same engine, the same weight, same performance as a C-172. The wing is just bolted to a different part of the fuselage.

Depends on the Piper, but the old heresy bar wings drop like a rock when you cut power.

If it's a 140 it has the Heresy Bar Wing which I for one like better. It won't glide like a 150/172 but much easier to put it in the numbers. Besides that it's just another SE aircraft.

I too used to jump from plane to plane as a rent a pilot. Look at the colors on the airspeed indicator and you'll be good.

No doubt, but it's a real trip to fly a Warrior II and then jump into an old 180HP Arrow with the heresy bar wing! I've done that one a time or two and WOW! I didn't put it on the numbers, I tried to put it IN the numbers! :)

If you want the PA28A/140 to land like a warrior or a C172 then you need to carry some extra power on final. The 140 is also more responsive to control inputs compared to the warrior or 172.

Lots of them only have toe brakes on the left side.

Oh yeah, and they're easy as can be to fly. It's just an airplane.

I'd guess I've flown 15 140's and 2 maybe 3 didn't have right side brakes. It was an option but since most were purchased for flight schools...

I've flown a few Piper products without brakes on the right side. Navajo/Chieftain's and Arrow's.

some of this was mentioned but to recap, its a very simple airplane. the pa28-140 depending on engine size can be a bit gutless on a high DA day. The hershey bar wing sinks like a rock when you cut the power, however if your 10kts fast over the numbers you will float forever (typical low wing) and the the stabolator loses effectiveness pretty quick. no brakes on the right, but the hand break works just fine. I have no problem flying solo on the right using the hand break. trim will likely be a hand crank on the ceiling. it will feel weird at first but you will get use to quickly.
no real issues, watch ground handling especially if using a power tug, its easy to damage the nose gear. an hour or two in the plane and you will feel comfortable in it.
