"Checking in" up front when traveling positive space/ paid ticket?

I'm in uniform most of the time on my ZED ticket. I've tried to stop up front a couple of times but usually by the time I get down there it's almost impossible to make a left turn in the doorway. Besides, chances are they'll want to check my bag if I stop because they'll run out of overhead space. I find myself having to stop guys from getting themselves in trouble more than anything though. I really appreciate the offers to ride and sometimes it takes quite an effort to convince them that I can't sit up front. We'd both get into a bunch of trouble in today's environment.

I assume those tickets cost more, so therefore are usually the open seats.

That or the fact they don't recline, they can be colder and noisier than other seats.

Fair enough. Some airplanes are more Barcalounger than others...;)

If that stupid jumpseat wasn't strapped next to the door, there would be tons of room. Not airbus amounts of room, but close to it.
