Cheaper alternative to clarity aloft?

None of my business, but it would seem if there was anything you'd want to spend $ on, it would be a good headset. What's a few hundred bucks vs. hearing loss?
 
I believe TSO is more about design approval and production approval. Ie, you made something for an airplane, headset for example, and you want to sell it as meeting the specs set forth by the FAA. You need a TSO https://www.faa.gov/aircraft/air_cert/design_approvals/tso/ I can’t find anything that says you must use a TSO approved headset. Maybe it’s implied but that isn’t generally how the regs operate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s not in the regs. It’s in a carrier’s FOM. Such as SJI’s.
 
Anyone use musician earplugs in the cruise? I'm on the bus and I find after 6 hours in the cruise for the day I find it very tiring. Had a captain the other day wearing them. Could hear conversations perfectly and cut out all the background noise.

Sort of.

Started wearing plugs when I was riding motorcycles a lot. Plugs cut down wind and engine noise considerably. Greatly reduced fatigue. Highly recommended.
 
How is Clarity Aloft for the CRJ?
Decent noise reduction?
Able to decipher voices easily? (Like when ATC is talking (not to you) and the other crew member is chatting about whatever...

I like the idea of not having stupid looking "headset hair" anymore...
