Cheap crash pads or living arrangements in MSP

Does anyone know of any inexpensive places to rent/stay in the MSP area; specifically with a fairly short commute towards the airport or Compass Airlines? Or at least what neighborhoods are a good bet?

I lived there for many years back in my Mesaba/Northwest days. There are no inexpensive areas in the twin cities. Your best bet is likely going to be St. Paul. Even 20 years ago it was crazy expensive. A LOT of people actually commuted in from Hudson, WI. I myself (before we bought a house) lived in a crashpad with 3 pilots. You might want to explore that option as well. Having said all that, there are definetly areas to avoid, especially in Minneapolis proper.

Agreed on avoiding Minneapolis downtown area.

Saint Paul is nice and clean but not cheap. The rough parts of town are on the north sides of both cities.

Housing will be cheaper typically outside of the 494 loop.

Hope that helps.

If you look in the bus shelters in the Delta/Endeavor crew lot on the south side of Building C, there always seem to be flyers in those advertising crash pads for rent.

I was going to mention this. I just didn’t know if it was still the case.

Will you have a vehicle? Any place that's not in the hood is going to run you $1000+ a month unfortunately. The further you get out it gets a *little* cheaper. Someone mentioned Hudson,WI...prices there are on par with the Cities now. For an example im paying $1500 for a 3 bedroom townhouse in one of the eastern suburbs

Definitely cheaper outside the 494 loop. Northern suburbs you can get a 1 bedroom for 800-900.
