Chautaqua Pilots?

Anyone here flying for Chautaqua?

Just curious as to what the current "future" was looking like? What are the projections for future hiring and brining onboard more larger aircraft?

Dude... SJS bad... mmmkay?

The E170s in DAL colors started flying today. Funny how the jet bridges they use are HIGHER then the Mad Dog setting. Regional Aircraft? Hmm. I'm thinking no.

Sorry for the rant. Nothing against you Tram.

Shiny Jet Syndrome....working for pathetic wages, but cool with it because it's a shiny new 170.

Just out of curiosity, who do you work for and what do they pay that doesn't consider you an SJS victim?

I believe he works for PSA, which has some of the worst 50/70 seat rates in the industry. There 70Seat FO wages are maybe a dollar more here and there over CHQs. He apparently got his SJS Vaccination.

Actually I think that question was posed for ERJFly...who works for Express Jet Greendaypilot!

So anyone...is Republic really that bad of a company ie low pay bad management/employee relations?
I have been hearing good things about Chautaqua. Because their growing ie getting new planes which means more hiring of pilots and there growing as a company with mergers.
Yes they have E170's but they do have other planes and hire for more then just the 170!

Maybe it isn't so much SJS. Here's the way I look at it. At some point in time most mainline unions decided to let 50/70 seat RJs off property. Whether that was a good thing or not is a moot point. However, the 50 and even 70 seat RJ didn't replace mainline flying in capacity. Sure, they took some of their routes but didn't compete with mainline jets in seats. However, the 170/190 are pretty much identical to some mainline jets. The 190 has 120 seat configurations. There are Boeings that are smaller then that. Regionals get these planes and fewer planes go to mainline. Many people at regionals have hopes of getting on with a major carrier at some point in time and the likely hood of doing that goes down when more of the planes that traditionally go to mainline go to regionals. In the end it benefits more senior pilots at the regionals who want to fly bigger aircraft but don't want to give up their seniorty to do it. Anyhow, just my .02

Let's quit using the S word over here. We might infringe on Flightinfo's copyright rights over it. Thanks -

ERFly works for ExpressJet and his point is a valid one. CHQ's 170 rates are pathetic.

XJT Capt. hourly rates on the EMB145 (50 seat) by year
1 $57
2 $59
3 $61
4 $63
5 $64
6 $66
7 $68
8 $70
9 $72
10 $74
11 $76
12 $79
13 $81
14 $83
15 $85
16 $87
17 $88
18 $90

CHQ Capt. rates for the Emb170 (70 seat) by year
1 $55
2 $58
3 $62
4 $64
5 $66
6 $68
7 $70
8 $72
9 $75
10 $77
11 $79
12 $82
13 $84
14 $87
15 $89
16 $92
17 $94

Not saying XJT rates are great but CHQ obviously does not value their 70 seat jet pilots much...an extra buck or two an hour after 3 years....gee thanks! The only think CHQ sells is a quick upgrade and all good things must come to an end. Besides where are you going to go besides the few that go to CAL,FEDEX,UPS, and SWA. All the 70 and 90 seat jets are doing at the regionals is lowering pay rates and ruining the chances for pilot advancement. I for one hope I never see a E170 or E190 at XJT. Send them to the legacy carriers where they belong. That way we will all have a place to move UP to (moving up is the key!!!) and make more money in the long run.

The other posters are right. I do work for ExpressJet. The pay rates speak for themselves, but we also have outstanding work rules, a good relationship with management and strong union leadership. This is an excellent place to work.

The company's not perfect by any means. I also don't plan on staying there for my career, but should I have to stay there for a while. This is a place I can be comfortable at. I won't make a fortune, but I won't be living on Ramen, either.

I also believe that anything larger than 70 seats belong at mainline carriers for mainline rates. I get sick to my stomach when I here guys begging for and bragging about 190s and CRJ900s at a regional. If any of us want to move onto bigger and better things, say no 70 and 90 seat aircraft. Let mainline operate them. I fly a 50-seat jet. I'm happy with it. I won't cry if the 170 doesn't show up outside the hangar next week. I don't ever want to see one in Continental Express colors. If we all have dreams of flying big iron across the ocean one day, we need to stop Shiny Jet Syndrome.

I know a few CHQ pilots. I'm not saying its a horrible airline. I'm saying that the 170 pay rates are aweful. Mesa's 900 rates are aweful. I'm just making a general statement about those large jets at the regional level.

Go polish the duce....
