Charts

Ive got a question for all ya corporate pilots.Do you get charts for the entire USA from the company to use, and do they get completely replaced each cycle? Thanks

Each plane has a set of Jepps for the U.S. and Carribean and they get replaced every time new ones come in the mail.

Depends on the operator....we carry charts for every airport in the Americas on each aircraft. The lower 48 is NOS, so yes they are all replaced each cycle. The rest of the kit is Jepp, so we do updates like everyone else. On the larger aircraft they carry Americas + Europe.

Cool, do you think it is possible to get the charts just after they expire?

Why pay for the charts? Go to any FBO near when the charts expire and they will be throwin em out. (NOS charts) Just ask the front desk ladies or go through their trash. The place that I work Line Service for does this, you would think they recycle em, they dont.

I picked up 4 that way, and although they expired, it's a good way to get familiar with them!

I used to work for an on-demand freight company that kept two complete sets of North America Jepps in each plane (that's CONUS, Canada/Alaska, and Mexico which is about 10 binders, times 2 equals about 20 books of Jepps to update).

Damn. In a smaller plane that's a lot of lost freight revenue.

Heh. That makes two of us. Then again, I think Doug and those charts would overgross a 150......

The worst part was that we always had a couple planes in for MX or off-line on the ramp, but they still had to have their Jepp books updated. So every 2 weeks, whatever crew was on standby duty at base would dread coming into the office to see 8 to 10 thick yellow Jepp envelopes sitting there...

AND...each heavy set of 10 Jepp binders was kept in a huge duffel-like case that had to be dislodged from behind the cockpit and carried down a ladder that rose 5' to the plane's crew entry door, then across the ramp and up about a 3-story staircase to the company office where we did the revisions.

Most annoying.
