Charter woes....

I've been sitting at this freaking airport for 7 hours waiting on this guy. I had to check out of my hotel at 11 am or pay for another night. Do people really have this little disrespect for other people? I've got a 3 hour flight home ahead of me and this guy won't give me a time or anything. First he said around 8pm but I'll call you an hour before we are ready to go. It's 8:30. Not a word! Yeah his butt can sleep while I'm up front fighting to stay awake with those damn props doing that sleepy dance. Really how can people be so inconsiderate?! I swear that in any other profession this wouldn't do.

Sorry to say this but that's the life. My old company once had to wait 8 hours for the CEO to show up with no word. We had to refuel bc the APU burned so much fuel. That's pretty common man to wait on those guys like that.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm its called charter?

Most clients we fly have a pretty good understanding of "on time". Although we get the occasional straggler an hour or so late. Nothing that bad on our end though. If it gets to be too exessive talk to the CP about it.

There is no economic incentive for them to be on time, so why would they care? A large portion of the people well off enough to afford to charter an aircraft, even if it is a small twin cessna, don't particularly care about the help. In fact, I would say my experience is that that is the niche where people care the least-- the moderately successful or slightly wealthy. Not rich enough to afford a King Air or a Citation, though. I've found the richer people are actually somewhat considerate to the hired help, maybe they have more experience in the subject.

You lost me at the part about not paying for another night (or day room rate) when you knew there was 9 hours between checkout and ETD.

Never flown a charter in my life, but my understanding is that that's all part of it.

x2, I don't really see the big issue here. Even when I worked line, we had times when a charter or frac would come in, expect to depart at 9pm, and at 130am we finally see the car show up.

Should have dropped the $$ for an extra night in the hotel. You've been waiting for 7 hours in the airport because you chose to. He said "around 8pm" and it was 8:30pm when you wrote, that's when the clock starts in my book, sorry!

Well ok. I know its charter. I was just talking about how inconsiderate people can be. Not that I didn't expect that.

The thing I've learned is that there might be circumstances that prevent the passenger from contacting you. You never know what they're engaged in at any given moment.

All in a days work. Our passengers will typically give us a text/call if they're running late.
Find some nice weather to keep your passenger awake;)
