Charter Costs Questions

GhostRider in the Sky
Hey folks, I'm currently writing an article for a motocross magazine, and the editor wants me to write a quick sidebar about some riders who charter aircraft to the races. It's not anything that needs cited references, so basic numbers will work.
I thought the easiest place to get some basic figures would be to ask here.
What I'm needing to know is the Hourly Cost for aircraft such as

-Citation (something in the 525 series size, like a CJ2)
-Lear Jet (45 or 60)
-Challenger 600 series
-Gulfstream 350/450/or 550

Just an hourly cost for the average person will work if anyone has knowledge of thoe basic numbers.
THanks, and I'll be sure to link the story after it gets published... you guys will like it.

The cj2 will range from $2500 to $3500 plus associated federal taxes, airport fees, and other various costs. Our Excel goes for $4500 an hour plus the above. It's right in the middle.

A cj2 goes for that much? I think we dry leased our falcon 50 for around 3000. I know guys who charter C550's in the 1500 range.

Thanks for the info, Itll give me a good reference point. Excels carry about 8 peeps correct?

Key word being "dry". THat means no fuel, and 3 TFE's on a falcon 50 drink a lot of gas.

Now that I think about it, that was the lease on our 20, because I think the conklin de decker report comes out around 3000 total cost per hour. Or it could be the 50, I have no idea. I actually have no idea about charter rates for those a/c, so ill just shut up.

For a straight charter the 45 is going to be right around $3,000 an hour plus or minus a few hundred bucks. A 60 is probably not going to be much different.

Our Citation 2 (550) charters for $1,595.00/hr plus a fuel surcharge of around $500/hr
Our Citation 7 (650) charters for $3,200.oo/hr plus a fuel surcharge of around $500/hr again

Per-Diem for us is $45/day for each Pilot
Hotel Rooms are $200/night for each Pilot
And All Landing and Ramp Fees end up being about 15-20% on top of the actual cost is what is charged to the customer.

The excel seats up to 9. Also, the rates we charge are wet. Our over night is $600 total. With a min of 2 hours each day. Also, we do have high rates, but that's what the owners want and that is why I have flown only 70 hours this year. I could also, go into the level of safety and types of crew hours and such, which adds up and costs more. Sometimes, the cheaper is for a reason.

I get paid on the first and the 15th. Now how long it will last, don't know. Ain't my call. This is a new west coast operation for a large management company back east. They treat us well. But it will be sometime for us to get a big client list. I hope they see the long term, but who knows.
